Carmelo Anthony almost didn’t need Chauncey Billups and Amar’e Stoudemire in Game 2. Almost. After scoring 42 points, grabbing 17 rebounds and dishing 6 assists, you’d think he had done more than enough to steal one from Doc Rivers. But they still lost. This time it was KG’s turn to bury the game winner in crunch time. And as for Melo? Well, he’s not exactly devastated about it all.
ORL over ATL, 88-82 (Series tied 1-1):

Superman had another super game, but his teammates didn’t exactly play superb. Once again, Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson were the only bright spots on Stan Van Gundy’s quintet, but that was enough in this ground-and-pound victory over the Hawks. After letting ATL breach the century mark in Game 1, Howard’s crew finally limited their opposition to below 90. Result? W. So maybe Superman can work by his lonesome, unless these Hawks learn to fly again.
DAL over POR, 101-89 (DAL up 2-0):

Jason Kidd continued his hot sniping and Peja Stojakovic wound back the clock as the Mavs upended the Blazers anew. Dirk Nowitzki was tops with 33 points, but it was the combined 7 triples of J-Kidd and Peja that propelled the Mavericks to a 2-0 bubble. I hope it won’t get to their heads, though, since we all know what happened in 2006 when Dallas went up 2-0 against Miami. Here’s to Kidd keeping on shooting.
