Here are some updates about some recent FIBA events:
2011 AFROBASKET in Madagascar

Winner: Tunisia
- This is the first Afrobasket plum for Tunisia. They get the continent's sole outright ticket to the 2012 London Olympic Basketball Games. Tunisia went 7-0 in the whole competition, defeating the defending champions, Angola, in the Final game, 67-56.
- The Tunisians were led by diminutive PG Marouan Kechrid, who finished with 21 markers in the championship match, and 7'1" center Salah Mejri, who grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked 3 shots against the Angolans.
- This is the first time Angola lost the Afrobasket crown in 12 years.
