The best game of the night and the playoffs so far was the thrilling Game 1 win by the Blazers in Houston. LaMarcus Aldridge was sensational with 46 points ad 18 rebounds. His partner, Damian Lillard was no slouch either with 31 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in his playoff debut. Rip City came back from a 13-point deficit in the 4th using Hack-A-Howard. At one point in regulation, LMA and Dame scored 25 straight points for the Blazers to send the game to overtime. Meanwhile, James Harden struggled shooting the ball (8 of 28) and Dwight Howard wasn't that efficient either (9 of 21 FGs, 9 of 17 FTs). Harden wasn't as clutch as he normally was. He missed a possible game-winner in regulation then he missed a short jumper for the potential tie in OT. Both teams endured a multiple of bad calls and had disqualifications to important players but that didn't prevent us from seeing a magnificent game. Major props to Chandler Parsons who had a great game but was mostly quiet in the 4th and OT. Patrick Beverley was instrumental in harassing all of the Blazers but he might have re-injured his knee so the Rockets are praying that nothing serious happened.

The Bobcats were right there with the Heat for most of the game but an injured Al Jefferson could not keep up with Miami's surge in the 4th quarter. Big Al hurt his foot in the 1st half but continued to play even though he was in pain and visibly more limited in his movements. Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and James Jones (yes, he played and was more productive than Chris Bosh) combined for 62 points to spearhead Miami's offense that broke away from Charlotte via 18-4 run in the last quarter. Jones was solid in his short 14-minute stint with 2 threes and 2 layups. Meanwhile, Kemba Walker had a good playoff debut with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists but he had 6 turnovers due to Miami's swarming ball pressure and trapping defense. Overall, Charlotte should be pleased that they were competitive with Miami. They will have 2 days between the next game and hopefully Al Jefferson will be a lot better because if he is hurt, this will cease to be a competitive series.

Spurs Nation held their collective breaths together when Tim Duncan fell to the floor and started limping after colliding knees with Monta Ellis. Duncan stayed on the bench for a few minutes and then Dallas started to mount a lead. Luckily, TD was okay and came back to play. The Spurs came back from a double digit deficit in the 4th to take Game 1 from the Mavs. Duncan displayed a vintage game of 27 points and 7 rebounds. Tony Parker was also brilliant with 21 points and 6 assists. On the other hand, the top 2 players of Dallas, Monta Ellis and Dirk Nowitzki had subpar games. The duo combined for just 22 points on 8 of 28 shooting. The Mavs cannot win even one game if they continue to struggle like that. The Dallas bench kept them in the game and produced a lead because Vince Carter, Brendan Wright and Devin Harris combined for 40 points to outscore the more potent bench of San Antonio who just had 23 points. Now, the Spurs hope that Duncan does not exhibit any lingering knee pain in the coming days.
#Nene #TheProfessor
The Bulls thought they were on the way to winning Game 1 but the Wizards had other ideas. Nene and Andre Miller (The Professor) orchestrated a rally in the 4th quarter to overtake the Bulls. The Wizards outscored them 30-18 in the final frame. Miller scored 8 points in the 4th with crafty and nifty moves that fooled his defenders. Nene was dominant with 24 points and 8 rebounds to outplay Joakim Noah who had a quiet double-double of 10 points and 10 boards. All of the starters for Washington scored in double figures and their young backcourt (Wall and Beal) had solid games for their playoff debuts. DJ Augustin scored 16 points but was a horrible 3 of 15 from the field.
- Road teams went 5-3 in all Game 1s
- LaMarcus Aldridge has the early lead for playoff highs in points and rebounds
- Miami is 16-0 vs the Bobcats in the last 4 years
- The Spurs win the series 86% of the time when winning Game 1
- Dwyane Wade and LaMarcus Aldridge both made a three
LaMarcus Aldridge (Blazers) - 46 points, 18 rebounds and 2 blocks
