Box scores.
It took 15 extra minutes, but the Purefoods Star Hotshots finally got the job done against a very tough Talk ‘N Text team, 118-117, in a triple overtime classic on Saturday at the University of Southeastern Philippines Gym in Davao.

Denzel Bowles posted 30 points, 15 rebounds, six assists, and four blocks in just under 51 minutes of play.

Despite providing nearly everything in the game, Bowles had just enough left in the tank to sink the game-winning shot – an off-balanced jumper over Talk ‘N Text’s Jay Washington – with 7.1 seconds remaining on the clock.

It was only the 10th triple overtime game in PBA history, according to PBA head of statistics Fidel Mangonon III, and just the first in five years.

Alex Mallari scored 17 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, James Yap added 15 markers, and Joe Devance finished with 14 despite having only five at the end of regulation.

Mark Barroca and PJ Simon also reached double-figures for Purefoods, while Marc Pingris had just 7 points but grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out 5 assists in the contest.

With the win, Purefoods positioned itself for a run at one of the top two spots after tying Talk ‘N Text at 6-3, behind just first place Meralco (6-2) in the standings.

Ivan Johnson paced TNT with 26 points, 15 rebounds, and 4 steals, while Jayson Castro and Matt Rosser scored 24 and 20 markers respectively.

Line of the Game: Denzel Bowles (PUR) - 30pts, 15rebs, 6asts, 4blks.
