Box scores.
The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters drew contributions from up and down the roster as they outdueled Meralco, 99-86, to take a 1-0 lead in their PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinal series on Tuesday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Wayne Chism scored 18 points – 14 of those in the second half – alongside 14 rebounds and 3 blocks as he led a cast of 14 different scorers for the Elasto Painters.

Paul Lee was the only other player in double-figures with 14 but five others – Gabe Norwood, Chris Tiu, Jervy Cruz, Jericho Cruz and Raymond Almazan – scored eight or more.

Jeff Chan was the only Rain or Shine player who failed to get on scoreboard.

The Elasto Painters outscored the Bolts, 25-15, in the crucial fourth quarter, which they opened with a 7-0 run to gain a double-digit advantage.

Rain or Shine, after taking the lead in the best-of-five series, is two wins away from advancing to the Commissioner’s Cup finals.

Meralco import Josh Davis struggled in this one, making just 4 of his 12 field goal attempts to finish with only 11 points. He did grab 15 rebounds, hand out 4 assists, and get 3 steals, but even those weren’t enough for Meralco to win. Cliff Hodge had 13 markers and 11 boards in support.

Line of the Game: Wayne Chism (ROS) - 18pts, 14rebs, 3asts, 3blks, 7/8 FGs.

Gary David's 14 points were far from enough to help Meralco beat ROS.

Paul Lee goes strong to the basket as the Painters defeat the Bolts in Game 1.
