RAIN OR SHINE ELASTO-PAINTERS over MERALCO BOLTS, 92-82

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters were sizzling hot from the outside, dropping long range bombs at will on Meralco to win 92-82 and take a 2-0 lead in their best-of-five PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinal series on Sunday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Rain or Shine knocked down 19 three-pointers on a 50% clip, five of those from leading scorer Paul Lee, as they ran away from Meralco and came to within a victory of booking a return trip to the PBA finals.
Lee finished with 23 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the field and 5-for-7 from three-point range while Jericho Cruz added 15 points, including three triples.
Import Wayne Chism, who was not needed much on offense in this one, finished with 11 points, 18 rebounds, and 7 assists.
The Elasto Painters did most of their damage in a lopsided third quarter where they outscored the Bolts, 32-14.
They shot a stellar 8-for-11 from long range in the third, upping their total to 17 treys in three quarters, turning a three-point halftime deficit into a 15-point lead, 76-61.
Jonathan Uyloan, who did not play in the first half, did not disappoint when his number was called, knocking down three triples in the third. Lee added two while Cruz, Chris Tiu and Gabe Norwood all hit one apiece.
Meralco import Josh Davis paced the Bolts with 25 points and 17 rebounds, while Gary David and Reynel Hugnatan dropped 17 and 12 markers respectively. They need to sweep their last three games in order to barge into the Finals.
