BARAKO BULL ENERGY over MERALCO BOLTS, 105-99
Box scores.
The Barako Bull Energy continued to remain the last undefeated team left standing in the PBA Governors’ Cup after finding a way to get past a tough Meralco side, 105-99, on Sunday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum. Joseph Yeo exploded for 28 points, including five three-pointers, and a team-high six assists despite coming off the bench while import Liam McMorrow shrugged off some foul trouble to finish with 19 points and 23 rebounds. RR Garcia scored 14 points, while Justin Chua and Jake Pascual added 12 apiece. Barako Bull improved to a league-best 4-0 record to open the conference while dropping Meralco, which got 32 points from import Andre Emmett, to 2-3. JC Intal and Dylan Ababou, who each averaged double-figure scoring in the team’s first three games, combined for just seven in this one, but it didn’t matter too much with several others picking up the slack. Prolific scorer Andre Emmett led the Bolts with 32 points, while Cliff Hodge backstopped him with 17 markers.

Line of the Game: Liam McMorrow (BAR) - 19pts, 23rebs, 6/7 FGs.

The Ninja, Josephy Yeo, puts the moves on Japanese import Seiya Ando.

SAN MIGUEL BEERMEN over STAR HOTSHOTS, 100-89

The streaking San Miguel Beermen kept rolling as they defeated the Star Hotshots, 100-89, for their third consecutive PBA Governors’ Cup win on Sunday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum. PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo posted 21 points and 20 rebounds in a monster showing. He shot 7-for-11 from the field and 7-for-11 from the free throw line. Import Arizona Reid led the Beermen with 29 points, while three other locals – Chris Ross, Alex Cabagnot and Arwind Santos – finished in double-figures. After dropping its first two games of the conference, San Miguel has now improved to 3-2. Star, meanwhile, fell to 1-3. The Hotshots were paced by Marqus Blakely’s 29 points and 15 boards, while Mark Barroca and James Yap dropped 15 and 11 markers respectively.
