Asian imports came up big in tonight’s action from the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup as Kia dumped Blackwater and Talk N Text dropped NLEX.

The Kia Carnival leaned on big performances from their two imports as they escaped a double-overtime duel with fellow expansion squad Blackwater, 83-76, on Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

Asian import Jet Chang of Taiwan led the way with 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Senegalese center Hamady N’Diaye posted monster numbers of 16 points, 23 rebounds, and 9 blocks in the win.


N’Diaye and Karl Dehesa each scored four points in the second extra period, where the Elite only scored a mere two points.

It was the second consecutive win for Kia, which improved to 3-1 for the Governors’ Cup, tying Alaska for second place in the standings.

Blackwater dropped to the bottom of the standings with a 1-4 slate.

TALK N TEXT TROPANG TEXTERS over NLEX ROAD WARRIORS, 108-89

The Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters got a big lift with the return of Jayson Castro, the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Best Player of the Conference, as they got past sister team NLEX, 108-89, on Tuesday at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

Castro tallied 19 points alongside five rebounds and five assists in a little over 28 minutes off the bench to help his team improve grab a share of second place alongside Alaska and Kia (3-1).

Import Steffphon Pettigrew led the way with 26 points, while several other players finished in double-figures for the Texters.

Ranidel De Ocampo posted 12 points alongside team-highs of 8 rebounds and 8 assists, while Kelly Williams added 11. Rookie Matt Ganuelas-Rosser and Asian import Sam Daghles each added 10 markers.

Asi Taulava had a monster game with 25 points and 13 rebounds, while imports Kwame Alexander and Michel Madanly both had 22, but these weren’t enough for NLEX as the Road Warriors dropped to 1-4.
