The Alaska Aces rose to the top of the 2015 PBA Govs’ Cup after beating San Miguel and snapping the Beermen’s 8-game win streak.

The Alaska Aces wrested the top spot in the standings after edging streaking San Miguel, 82-77, in an out-of-town thriller on Saturday at the Panabo Multi-purpose Tourism, Sports, and Cultural Center in Davao del Norte.

The Aces lost a double-digit lead in the second half, but they closed out strong as they put an end to an impressive 8-game winning streak for the Beermen.


San Miguel grabbed the lead, 77-74, on a Marcio Lassiter three-pointer, but Alaska closed out the game on an 8-0 run.

Romeo Travis finished with 32 points and 10 rebounds, while Calvin Abueva added 12 points for the Aces, who improved to a league-best 8-2.

Reid scored 17 points to lead San Miguel (8-3), but he went 7-for-24 from the field.

Ronald Tubid added 15 points, and June Mar Fajardo had a double-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
