NLEX ROAD WARRIORS over RAIN OR SHINE ELASTO-PAINTERS, 111-106
Box Scores.
NLEX’s Sean Anthony scored a career-high 37 points, including his team’s last eight points as the Road Warriors played spoilers against Rain or Shine, 111-106, in a SMART BRO PBA Philippine Cup clash on Saturday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Anthony scored 13 points in the fourth quarter as he helped NLEX score the huge victory. He shot 13-for-20 from the field and 4-for-6 from three-point range, as well as tallying six rebounds and five assists in a big-time performance.
The game had plenty of ramifications for the race for the top two. A win by Rain or Shine would have given them the No. 1 seed and would have sent them to the semifinals outright, while forcing Alaska and San Miguel to duel in a playoff for the second seed.
As it was, NLEX had other plans, notching a big win that moved it up to seventh place in the standings with a 5-6 record. Rain or Shine (8-3) dropped to No. 3 and will have to go through the quarterfinal round.
Asi Taulava had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Jonas Villanueva added 14 markers as well.
ROS was paced by Raymond Alamazan’s 10 points and 15 rebounds, while fellow big man Beau Belga also did well with 18 points and 7 boards.
Lines of the Game:

Box scores.
Veteran point guard Mike Cortez shot his Blackwater team to its first-ever playoff appearance after outdueling Mahindra, 108-99, in a knockout SMART BRO PBA Philippine Cup clash on Sunday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

He went 11-for-18 (61%) in the do-or-die game, shooting 2-for-4 (50%) from long range and making all six of his free throws in a vintage performance.
