ALASKA ACES over SAN MIGUEL BEERMEN, 100-91

The Alaska Aces showed plenty of patience as they came back from a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter to beat San Miguel, 100-91, and take Game 1 of their SMART BRO PBA Philippine Cup Finals series on Sunday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Alaska, which is looking to get some redemption after losing to San Miguel in both the Philippine Cup and Governors’ Cup a season ago, now leads 1-0 in the best-of-seven series.
Vic Manuel scored 14 of his game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter as he led an Alaska comeback from 12 points down. The Aces outscored the Beermen by 18, 34-16, to turn things around in the final period.
VIC MANUEL TAKES OVER:
Cyrus Baguio added 16 points, Chris Banchero had 15, and Calvin Abueva had a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds in the win.
San Miguel, which was playing without injured MVP June Mar Fajardo, was led by Alex Cabagnot with 20 points.
Marcio Lassiter finished with 19 points, while the veteran Yancy De Ocampo had 18 points and 7 rebounds in a starting role.

Arwind Santos, who was expected to play a big role with Fajardo out, struggled with just four points on 2-for-11 shooting before fouling out of Game 1 with over three minutes still on the clock.
