The Ateneo Blue Eagles allowed a gutsy UP team to hang around for three quarters before putting them away in the fourth for a 79-64 victory in UAAP Season 79 play on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Thirdy Ravena led the way for Ateneo with 22 points, 10 rebounds and three assists as the Blue Eagles improved to 4-2 for the season, good for solo second place behind only undefeated La Salle (5-0).
Chibueze Ikeh added 14 points and seven rebounds while Anton Asistio chipped in with 10.
Paul Desiderio and Jett Manuel had big games for the Fighting Maroons, finishing with 25 and 17 points, respectively.

The De La Salle Green Archers were in for bigger fight than they bargained for but still had enough to come through with a sixth straight victory after beating winless UE, 84-78, to remain unbeaten in UAAP Season 79 on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Ben Mbala turned in another dominant performance with 19 points and 17 rebounds while La Salle rookie Justine Baltazar came up big with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Prince Rivero also hit double figures with 11 points for the Green Archers, who improved to 6-0 while knocking the Red Warriors down to 0-6.
