Sunday Salvacion hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 72 seconds remaining then Arwind Santos made a key stop in the next play as Petron Blaze held off B-Meg in a crucial semifinal match that kept the Boosters in the hunt for a finals spot in the PBA Governors’ Cup. Import Anthony Grundy tallied 29 points and Santos scored 13 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter to lead a strong charge by the Boosters down the stretch.
Rookie big man Rabeh Al-Hussaini, though, was a casualty. Al-Hussaini slipped and hurt his right knee while working against Marc Pingris with a minute to go in the second quarter. He was carried out of the court and didn’t return to the game. Team
officials suspect an ACL injury.

It’s now a waiting game for Alaska Milk after they did what was needed. Alaska clung onto life as it topped Rain or Shine in their knockout tiff in the penultimate play date of the PBA Governors Cup semifinal round. The Aces stayed in contention for the second finals berth having closed out their semis stint with an 8-5 win-loss record.
Alaska took control most of the way while holding Arizona Reid to just 12 points in the good run of the game. The bulk of Reid’s output was made with the Aces having put the game away.
Jason Forte made more impact with 24 points and 16 rebounds. Sonny Thoss also had double-double numbers with 14 boards and 10 markers while LA Tenorio contributed 20 points, 7 boards and 5 assists.

Even with a depleted roster Petron managed to squeeze past Talk ‘N Text to wind
up its semifinal campaign in the 2011 PBA Governors’ Cup. The Boosters, needing the crucial win to stay in the hunt for finals berth, seized control in the second quarter by making 52 percent (9 of 17) of their shots then continued their excellent shooting in the second half to completely dominate the grandslam-seeking Tropang Texters.
Import Anthony Grundy and Arwind Santos recorded double-doubles as Petron repeated against the Tropang Texters this conference even without key players Anthony Washington, Lordy Tugade, Joseph Yeo and rookie big man Rabeh Al-Hussaini – sidelined by various injuries.
Grundy led all scorers with 35 points and had 12 rebounds while Santos tallied 19 and 16 boards. Danny Ildefonso and Mick Pennisi each scored 10 points for the Boosters, who shot 42 percent (36 of 85) for the game.
Larry Fonacier scored 16 points, Kelly Williams had 11 and Harvey Carey added 10 for Talk 'N Text, which shot 35 percent (29 of 81) from the field.

Barangay Ginebra came out to win its last game in the season and, thus, helped Petron Blaze clinch the second berth in the PBA Governors Cup finals.
As the Kings got past the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, the Boosters gained the rights to challenge the Talk n Text Tropang Texters in the best-of-seven finale.
Though playing minus injured import Arizona Reid, the Elasto Painters dragged the Kings in a close battle. The Kings eventually pulled through and handed the Boosters a finals berth on a strong finish starring Mike Cortez who sizzled with all of his 16 points in the final canto.
Ronald Tubid paced Ginebra with 18 with John Wilson also putting in 16 and Eric Menk and Mark Caguioa combining for 24.
Beau Belga led all scorers with 20 points while Larry Rodriguez delivered double-double numbers with 12 markers and 11 boards.

Danny Ildefonso reminded everybody about his rich championship experience. Ildefonso hit two big shots down the stretch, including his first-ever buzzer-beater, to lift Petron Blaze to a win over heavily-favored Talk N Text Sunday at the start of their PBA Governors Cup title duel.
Sunday Salvacion scored a game-high 19 points and Anthony Grundy notched his first PBA career triple-double, but it was Ildefonso’s late-game heroics that helped the Boosters steal the opener of the best-of-seven series. Ildefonso turned a steal into a fastbreak layup and, following an undergoal stab by Ryan Reyes, scored on a high-arcing baseline jumper that spelled the game difference.
Jimmy Alapag scored 18 points and had 7 assists to lead Talk N Text, which has not lost back-to-back games since Games 3 and 4 of the season-opening Philippine Cup finals to the same team.
Larry Fonacier came off the bench to add 16 points while the comebacking Ranidel de Ocampo chipped in 13 and Kelly Williams 10 and 9 rebounds. But sorely missed was Scottie Reynolds’ usual production.
Reynolds was held down to only four points, a far cry from his five-game average of 21.4 ppg. He went 1-for-10 from the floor and he went to the stripe only off a baseline drive and Paolo Hubalde’s hard foul.
Grundy finished with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists and also had five steals.
