After the JUMP: Game stories on San Beda nabbign 3rd Place and Ateneo finally pulling the wool over the Stags.
SAN BEDA RED LIONS over UNIV. OF CEBU WEBMASTERS, 82-69
The Red Lions repeated their mastery of the Webmasters, and they managed to salvage third place in the process.
Despite the herculean effort by graduating big man Junmar Fajardo, the Webmasters still failed to get a second win in the 2011 PCCL Final Four, bowing to the Bedans anew. Fajardo, who’s bound for the Asean Basketball League as a San Miguel Beerman, unleashed double 24s (points and rebounds) to pace the Cebuanos, but, alas, his monster of a game wasn’t nearly enough to defeat the Lions.
Once again, Rome De la Rosa stepped up for coach Frankie Lim and produced 21 points with 7 rebounds. Graduating guard Mar Villahermosa also played well, scoring 14 markers, handing out 5 assists, grabbing 4 boards and getting 3 steals.
San Beda also played great defense on one of the Webmasters’ top guns – Edward Pao, who ended up laying a big fat egg as UC goes home empty-handed.

ATENEO DE MANILA BLUE EAGLES over SAN SEBASTIAN GOLDEN STAGS, 56-51
The defending PCCL champs, backed into a corner by the Golden Stags’ twice-to-beat edge, started slowly, but hummed at the right time and did just enough to force a rubber match for the 2011 National Crown.
The Ateneo Blue Eagles were led by Nico Salva, who finished with 18 points and 5 rebounds, while “The Phenom,” Kiefer Ravena unloaded 10 markers and 5 boards. In such a low-scoring affair, both Salva and Ravena were the constant offensive sparks that kept the Loyolans’ heads above water, especially since coach Norman Black’s wards committed an uncharacteristic 26 errors.
The Golden Stags actually had the upperhand early, putting the clamps and blanking the Eagles for the first 5 minutes until Salva and Ravena turned on the jets to spark Ateneo’s rally.
Calvin “The Beast” Abueva had 16 points and 10 rebounds, though he fouled out (and was ejected shortly after), while Jovit Dela Cruz added 11 points for Baste.
