POWERADE TIGERS over B-MEG LLAMADOS, 97-88
Needing to win two in a row to survive the quarterfinals, the Powerade Tigers fought with great resolve and got half the job done. Powerade stunned elimination-round topnotcher B-Meg to force a sudden death showdown in their PBA Philippine Cup quarters match-up.
Gary David scattered 32 points -- all in the first three quarters, Marcio Lassiter added 24 points, while Doug Kramer contributed 13 rebounds and 10 points as the Tigers snapped the Llamados’ searing eight-game win streak. David and company outworked and outfought the Tigers, taking the half at 50-39 and were hardly threatened the rest of the way.
David, Rudy Lingganay, Josh Vanlandingham and JV Casio combined for a hot 7-of-14 three-point shooting as the Tigers enjoyed the 11-point cushion at halftime.
James Yap hit his stride a bit little, topscoring for B-Meg with 21, 15 coming in the final half. PJ Simon and Kerby Raymundo tossed in 10 points each, but the rest of the Llamados struggled in the first 24 minutes of play.

TALK N TEXT TROPAN TEXTERS over BARAKO BULL ENERGY , 81-79
Jayson Castro is sure to come out a winner, whether he plays starter or backup. The cat-quick guard proved this by scoring on a clutch drive and lifting defending champion Talk 'N Text past Barako Bull and into the semifinals of the PBA hilippine Cup.
Castro used his speed to get past the defense of Dylan Ababou in the final 5.3 seconds and cap a game in which he came off the bench to score a new career-high 32 points while totally atoning for what coach Chot Reyes believes was a dip in his performances of late.
It was a very bitter loss for Barako Bull, which seemed set to offset its twice-to-win handicap in the quarterfinal matchup when it took as much as a 46-30 lead and came charging back from a 72-79 deficit through Willie Miller's heroics. Miller highlighted his 15-point performance with seven straight points, spiked by a three-point play off his block on Kelly Williams, to tie it at 79, 23.4 ticks left.
In the end, however, Castro came through with 14 of his points in the final canto and gave the Tropang Texters and their injured players the needed time to rest and recuperate. They next battle the winner of the best-of-three duel between Petron Blaze and Meralco in the race-to-four semis on Jan. 4.
