With the win, NLEX improved to 4-2, good for fourth place, while sinking Meralco deeper into the bottom of the standings at 1-6.

Meralco rookie Chris Newsome had a huge game with 21 points, four rebounds and four assists but it was not enough to lift the Bolts, who were seeking a second straight win after starting the conference with five consecutive losses.

TALK N TEXT TROPANG TEXTERS over BLACKWATER ELITE, 109-98
Box Scores.
The Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters used a huge second half surge to sink Blackwater, 109-98, in the SMART BRO PBA Philippine Cup Wednesday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Jayson Castro led the way with 26 points as the Tropang Texters improved to 4-2.

Troy Rosario added 17 points, while Moala Tautuaa and Larry Fonacier each chipped in 16 in the win.

It wasn’t the best of starts for Talk ‘N Text which fought toe-to-toe against Blackwater in the first half. The Elite even came away with a 51-50 halftime lead as JP Erram and Carlo Lastimosa, who both top-scored for them with 18 points apiece, carried the cudgels for the Elite.

But the Tropang Texters suddenly woke up in the third quarter. After a 61-all tie, a 13-2 run gave them the game’s first double-digit spread, 74-63, which Talk ‘N Text never relinquished.

Blackwater slid to 1-5 as it suffered its third straight defeat of the season. Carlo Lastimosa and JP Erram each tallied 18 points to pace the Elite.
