#PBA2016 Govs’ Cup Roundup: August 13, 2016



TNT dominated Blackwater, while ROS outlasted rival Alaska in tonight’s 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup double-header.

TNT KA TROPA over BLACKWATER ELITE, 109-89

The TNT KaTropa continued to roll in the Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup, crushing an unlucky Blackwater Elite squad, 109-89, to cruise to a fifth straight win on Saturday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.


Ranidel De Ocampo scored 20 points alongside six rebounds and four assists while new import Mychal Ammons made a good account of himself with 18 points and 18 boards in his PBA debut.

Troy Rosario also had a big game with 16 points and 13 rebounds while Asian import Michael Madanly added 15 markers, including two three-pointers in a crucial fourth quarter run.

Blackwater hung around early behind the play JP Erram, who finished with nine points, two steals and two blocks in just under 15 minutes of play. He had to exit the game in the second quarter, though, after hurting his knee in one foray to the basket.

TNT is now 5-0 in the conference, while Blackwater, which was paced by Reil Cervantes with 22 points, dropped to 1-4.

RAIN OR SHINE ELASTO-PAINTERS over ALASKA ACES, 117-114
Box Scores. 

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters trailed by 11 points in the fourth quarter but managed to come back in time to clinch a big win over the Alaska Aces, 117-114, in the Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup on Saturday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Rain or Shine import posted 24 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to lead the way although he had plenty of help from his locals.

Paul Lee had 18 points and four assists while JR Quinahan added 16 points and five assists. The two combined to score 18 points in the fourth quarter.

They managed to overcome a huge effort from Alaska import LaDontae Henton, who exploded for 41 points on only 23 field goal attempts in the game.

Rain or Shine improved to 3-2 in the standings while Alaska dropped a third consecutive game and its fourth in five outings.

Calvin Abueva tallied 17 points and eight rebounds for Alaska before fouling out in the last minute of the game.
