Peculiarity #1: The Sixers limited LeBron to only FOUR field goals in Game 1. They still lost of course. Will that happen again? LeBron hitting only four shots will not happen again in this series, but the Sixers losing? Definitely happening. They’ll last till Game 5, at most.

Peculiarity #2: Dan Le Batard almost makes a good argument for why Derrick Rose doesn’t deserve the MVP trophy. He posits that perception is not reality. He uses numbers to compare Rose with OKC’s Russell Westbrook (both of whom are really great players!), and concludes that they’re basicall the same player. Of course he never mentions another important number, which is the win total of Chicago compared to last season, and how much Rose’s play has affected the tone of his team and the league in general. We have a writer so deeply mired in the mathematics of each game that he ceases to see the big picture.

Le Batard says perception is not reality, but the reality is neither are stats. Ever wonder why votes from sportswriters and fans are counted? Because the stat sheets alone do not decide the MVP. If you don’t get that, then you don’t know NBA basketball. But I forget, he writes for the Miami Herald. We already know whom he'll vote for right?
