SAN MIGUEL BEERMEN over BLACKWATER ELITE, 107-101

The San Miguel Beermen denied the lowly Blackwater Elite a victorious end to their season as the defending champions held off a gutsy effort by the young franchise, 107-101, to notch a victory heading into the quarterfinals of the PBA Governors’ Cup Sunday at Alonte Sports Arena.
Balik-import Elijah Millsap scored 25 points and 14 rebounds in his PBA return although he got fouled out in the fourth quarter to pace the Beermen (8-3) who, currently at third place, could still end up at No.2 should TNT KaTropa win over Barangay Ginebra in the main game.
Arwind Santos tallied 19 points, June Mar Fajardo piled up 18 markers and Alex Cabagnot chipped in 17. Ronald Tubid also made 15 points on five triples to complete San Miguel’s balanced offensive attack.
Art Dela Cruz scored 23 points and 11 boards for the Elite (1-10) who ended their season with a nine-game losing skid.

The TNT KaTropa secured the No. 1 seed after closing out the Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup elimination round with a big 104-92 victory over Barangay Ginebra on Sunday in Binan, Laguna.
Import Mychal Ammons posted 24 points and 16 rebounds in a big effort for TNT, which wrapped up their campaign with a 10-1 record after four consecutive wins.
Jayson Castro added 19 points and 10 assists while Asian import Micahel Madanly had 18 points and eight boards. Larry Fonacier also had a big game with 14 markers. Those three combined to hit 10 of TNT’s 13 three-pointers in the victory.
Ginebra, which entered the game with a shot at the No. 1 seed, dropped down to 8-3.
