Ael will spread his wings as an Eagle anew (image by Imagine Nation Photography) |
As per this article from Sid Ventura of Inboundpass.com, and confirmed by the subject himself, Ael Banal will become an Eagle after all.
Just not the blue kind.
Apparently, the former Ateneo Blue Eaglet and two-time UAAP Juniors Champion has decided to don the red and white of Victory University.

Victory is a non-Division 1 school that plays in the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) in the States. Ael will now be based in Memphis, Tennessee, and should play the PG or SG position in the Eagles’ roster.
Ael was tagged by many, including this writer, as the redux of Larry Fonacier, but things didn’t pan out exactly the way he’d hoped here in the local scene, so he chose to test the waters elsewhere.
Although he won’t don the Blue & White in the near future (maybe in the “far” future?), Ael is doing something that might just spring some fresh opportunities for other like-minded Pinoy hoopsters. If he does well, then he could pave the way for more young Filipinos to crack the US Basketball scene. Japeth Aguilar tried to do something like that with the Western Kentucky U Hilltoppers, but injuries kept him from playing a lot. That shouldn’t be the case for Ael, a former student of mine, who personally promised this writer that he’d “seize the opportunity” that he’s been blessed with. Carpe Diem Ael!
Good luck! And even if you will no longer play for Ateneo, One Big Fight pa rin!
Haha something for you Ael, apparently from someone on YouTube crushing on you!
