After the JUMP: Game reports for Week 4 & Week 5 action in the Batch 99 Division of the Ateneo Basketball League! Also, find out if the "Original Phenom," BJ Manalo, played in Week 5!
Week 4:
AHS 4BG 99 over AHS 4I 99, 68-66
- It was a great come-form-behind win for the shorthanded BG 99 team, since many key players were missing.
- It was a last second and-1 lay-up by Clint Erestain that clinched the improbable win.
- Erestain, Bam Mammuad and Ken Cordova combined for 52 points, 27 rebounds, and 10 steals to lead BG 99.
- Defense was the key as the BG boys had 7 more steals than the I boys.
- The I boys had a sizable lead midway thru the 4th, but they committed some errors, like flagrant fouls and turnovers, that allowed the BG boys to climb back in.
AHS 4J 99 over AHS 4H 99, 77-47
- Marty Gallego and Dodge Mozo combined for 30 points as the J boys punished the interior on their way to the rout.
- Blue Eaglets assistant coach Jing Naynes and Glan Marquez effectively orchestrated from the backcourt, combining for 10 assists and 5 steals.
- The H boys got good productions from several players (Arpee Velasco with 9 points & 13 rebounds, Mik Cargullo and Jomar Go with 11 markers each, and Franco Flameño with 10 points), but it just wasn't enough as the J boys controlled the tempo.

Week 5:
AHS 4E 99 over AHS 4BG 99, 92-88
- The BG boys almost completed another come-from-behind win in what was definitely one of the most anticipated match-ups of the tournament.
- The E boys utilized superior 3-point shooting to take an early 18-point lead, which they sustained for most of the first half, until the BG boys recovered their bearings and got back in the game.
- The BG 99’s 1-3-1 defense slowed down the E 99 a little bit, but every time they got close, the E boys hit big shots that extended the lead again.
- It was a down-the-wire game, with the E boys securing victory only after making key free throws in the dying seconds after the BG boys hit some desperation threes.
- One highlight of the game was the appearance of former Blue Eaglet BJ Manalo. It was rumored he'd play with his classmates in BG 99, but he opted to just watch and cheer from the sidelines. Will he ever be convinced to suit up in the ABL? Only time will tell.
- Bajjie Del Rosario and Bogey Bernardo combined for 52 points, 24 rebounds, and 6 threes for E 99, while Yong Gregorio, Clint Erestain, and Ken Cordova combined for 62 points to lead the BG boys.
AHS 4I 99 over AHS 4H 99, 91-85
- In another high-scoring tiff, the I boys rebounded from the previous week's collapse by beating the H boys.
- H 99 actually outshot and outrebounded the I boys, but I 99 was +6 in both assists and steals.
- One major difference was that the I boys took 14 more field goal attempts than the H boys.
- TJ Flameño finished with 27 points to lead I 99. He got major support from Christian Caverte's 18 markers & 9 boards, as well as Euan Sanchez, who hit 5 treys to end up with 21 markers.
- Franco Flameño, meanwhile, was a tower of power for H 99, scoring 37 points on top of 7 boards, 2 steals and 4 blocks. Arpee Velasco and Marco Campos helped him out by combining for 22 points and 24 rebounds.
