SAIGON HEAT over SAN MIGUEL BEERMEN, 66-63
The Saigon Heat escaped from Manila with a huge win over the San Miguel Beermen. Froilan Baguion had a chance to send the game to overtime, but missed an important corner three-point shot at the buzzer.
The Heat’s Jahmar Thorpe led all scoring with 24 points and 11 rebounds while Jonathan Jones added 19 points. Dalron Johnson and Leo Avenido recorded 17 points each for the Beermen.
The game was tied at 63 after Froilan Baguion hit a three-point shot with 01:08 left in the game. The Beermen then had a chance to take the lead, but Leo Avenido missed a lay-up and then fouled Robert Sanz out of frustration.
Down 63-64, the Beermen had two chances to take the lead, but Jarrid Famous was unable to finish under the rim and then Baguion missed a running shot.
Jonathan Jones was then fouled almost immediately after. Although Jones was only able to make one out of two from the line, the Beermen were not able to grab the rebound and instead were forced to foul Sanz, who grabbed the offensive board.
Sanz missed both of his free throws, but once again the Beermen were unable to secure the rebound and Thorpe, who has been good in the clutch for the Heat, calmly hit two big free throws to make it 66-63, securing the win.

INDONESIA WARRIORS over BANGKOK COBRAS, 74-67
It was an intense game as both teams needed the win in order to secure themselves a spot for the playoffs. The Indonesia Warriors came into the game as the fourth placed team on the standings with the Bangkok Cobras breathing down their necks at fifth place.
It was a close game from the very start and things got heated up as the game progressed, but the Indonesia Warriors strengthened their position at fourth when they recorded their third win in a row after the Bangkok Cobras walked out of the game with just 1:39 left in the fourth quarter.
The Warriors were leading the game up to this point, although the game’s current leading scorer was the Cobras’ Jai Reyes with 19 points followed by teammate Gentry Lewis with 16. On the other end of the court Jerick Canada led the Warriors with 13 points followed by Steve Thomas with 12.
The Cobras were shooting very well from the arc in the first half of the game, completing 44% of all their three point attempts, especially compared to the Warriors, who were just 21% from the arc.
It was an intense fourth quarter and with just four points separating the teams, a win was well within reach for both sides. Both teams played hard and things started to get heated as three players fouled out of the game in the final quarter.
First, the Cobras got into trouble at the 4:41 minute mark as Gentry Lewis fouled out with the Warriors hanging on to a one point lead. Then the Warriors’ Canada fouled out just minutes after. Both teams were now missing an important contributor and with less than two minutes left to go Marvin Cruz was handed his fifth personal foul. Things came to a head at this point and the Bangkok Cobras walked out of the game, awarding the Warriors the win.
The AirAsia ASEAN Basketball League will be investigating the incident and an official statement will be released after official match reports and game tapes have been properly reviewed.

CHANG THAILAND SLAMMERS over WESTPORTS MALAYSIA DRAGONS, 80-69
The Chang Thailand Slammers pulled it out of the bag in the second half to end their three game losing run after winning over the Westports Malaysia Dragons.
The Chang Thailand Slammers’ Calvin Williams had a big game tonight, finishing as the top scorer with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Demetrius Proby also finished with a double-double of his own with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
The Dragons welcomed AirAsia ABL newcomer Cheyenne Moore into their squad tonight to fill in for Tiras Wade, who is still recovering from an injury. Moore had a decent debut, finishing as joint top scorers for the Dragons alongside Shee Fai Loh with 15 points apiece.
The Dragons dominated for most of the first quarter, taking advantage of the Slammers’ poor shooting. The hosts were 0-for-16 from the field until the final minute when Sopon Pinitpatcharalert broke the dry spell with a three pointer for the Slammers.
Calvin Williams opened the second quarter with back-to-back baskets to put the Slammers within striking distance of their guests. The Dragons’ Loh had a fabulous first half, however, sinking all of his field goal attempts to finish the half as his team’s top scorer while keeping the Dragons on top, 46-37.
The Slammers came into the second half fired up and completed their comeback midway through the third quarter after a 9-point run. Only four points separated the teams coming into the final quarter, and neither team was willing to let this go easily. Chris Pacana and Patrick Cabahug put in back-to- back baskets for the Dragons at the 7:24 minute mark to even things up at 65.
The Slammers answered with a 7-0 spurt, prompting the Dragons to call a timeout with 2:46 to go. The Dragons were unable to find an answer, though, and the Slammers held on to grab their first win in four games.

AIRASIA PHILIPPINE PATRIOTS over JOBSTREET.COM SINGAPORE SLINGERS, 82-70
The AirAsia Philippine Patriots extended their winning streak to four games after defeating JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers. With this win, they remain with the best record in the league at 11 wins and just 2 losses.
The Patriots’ Anthony Johnson led all scoring with 23 points while Nakiea Miller, who loves to play in this stadium, added 22 points and 15 rebounds. Al Vergara finished with 13 points off the bench.
The Patriots’ bench was a big factor in this game. They outscored the Slingers’ bench 24-11. The Patriots were in control for most of the game, even holding a 15-point lead at one point. The Slingers shot poorly, completing only 35% of their attempts in this game.
After a great performance against the Slammers last weekend, the Slingers’ top scorer, Louis Graham, struggled in the first half. Graham was 1-for-6 and had only 4 points in the first half. He picked it up in the second half, however, to finish the game with 19.
Kyle Jeffers also finished with 19 points and 13 rebounds in his second game back with the Slingers. The Slingers are now 1-1 after inserting Jeffers into their line-up. Slingers are currently sixth in the standings at 5-9.
