SAN MIGUEL BEERMEN over INDONESIA WARRIORS, 71-69
Leo Avenido once again came up big for the San Miguel Beermen. Avenido made a lay-up over Steven Thomas and Jonathan Smith with 16 seconds left to help the Beermen defeat the Indonesia Warriors. Avenido finished with 16 points.
Jarrid Famous led all scoring with 20 points. Duke Crews had a double-double in his debut with the Beermen by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds, but Crews had a tough shooting night, missing 14 of his 19 shots.
The Warriors had a couple of chances to tie the game before the buzzer sounded. Mario Wuysang had a running shot, but was blocked by SMB center Junmar Fajardo. Rony Gunawan and Steven Thomas also had another look at the basket, but failed to convert, resulting in the Warriors facing their eighth defeat of the season.
Steven Thomas led the Warriors with 19 points and 17 rebounds. Jonathan Smith also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 17 rebounds.

AIRASIA PHILIPPINE PATRIOTS over CHANG THAILAND SLAMMERS, 89-68
It was a clash of the ASEAN Basketball League champions tonight at the Ynares Sports Arena. After a very close first half, the AirAsia Philippine Patriots stepped things up in the second half to cruise past the Chang Thailand Slammers.
Anthony Johnson continued his incredible run with the Patriots to finish as his team’s leading scorer with 23 points. Nakiea Miller also put in a significant contribution of 17 points and 15 rebounds.
Calvin Williams led all scoring with 27 points. The Slammers also introduced more new faces into their starting line-up. Chris Garnett stepped in for Demetrius Proby, who is resting due to a back injury, and Alex Angeles came in for John Paul Alcaraz. Both the newcomers had decent debuts, Garnett finishing with 15 points and Angeles rounding up 9 of his own.
It was a very close first half where the teams traded leads 11 times and with the Slammers entering the locker rooms up by just 1.
The Patriots, however, started the third quarter on a 13-0 run to break the game open. The Slammers were unable to score at all in the opening three minutes of the quarter and found themselves outscored 18-5 mid-third-period.
The Patriots were simply too effective in the second half tonight and ended the game on a 6-0 spurt to defeat the Slammers.

JOBSTREET.COM SINGAPORE SLINGERS over WESTPORTS MALAYSIA DRAGONS, 81-70
The JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers grabbed a big win at the expense of the Westports Malaysia Dragons. Louis Graham led the way for the Slingers with 24 points, while Kyle Jeffers recorded a double-double with 17 points and 20 rebounds. Wong Wei Long added 13 points for the Slingers, who are at fifth position with 6 wins against 9 defeats.
The Dragons had a nightmare start as they scored a franchise-low 4 points in the first quarter. The Slingers held the Dragons scoreless in the last 7 minutes of the first, frame and Vaughn Canta hit a shot to end the first quarter 16-4.
John Ng hit a three and Patrick Cabahug hit back-to-back shots to help the Dragons trim their deficit to 42-47 in the third quarter, but the Slingers answered the Dragons’ run quickly through their two imports Kyle Jeffers and Louis Graham, who combined for 8 points in the last 2:10 of the third.
Dragons’ import Devon Sullivan, who finished with 18 points, tried to start a run in the final period to help cut their deficit. Sullivan scored 5 points early to make it 54-62, but that was the closest the Dragons could get to the Slingers until the final buzzer.
Cheyenne Moore had another tough game for the Dragons. Moore was held to only 7 points and missed 12 of his 14 shots. Ng finished with 12 points and Shee Fai Loh added 11. Despite the loss, the Dragons are still at third position in the standings with 7 wins and 7 losses.

AirAsia ABL takes action following the Cobras’ walk out against the Indonesia Warriors
The AirAsia ASEAN Basketball League announced that action will be taken on both the Indonesia Warriors and the Bangkok Cobras following the Cobras’ walk out in their match-up held at the GOR C’tra Arena in Indonesia last Saturday, the 24th of March 2012.
After careful reviews of the official reports and game footage, the AirAsia ABL has concluded that the Indonesia Warriors, as the home team, will be fined an undisclosed amount for being unable to control their home crowd as well as failing to provide a home venue with all the facilities as outlined in the ABL Rules & Regulations.
The Bangkok Cobras will also be served with a fine for an undisclosed amount for failing to complete a scheduled game. As per the ABL’s competition rules, this forfeit will result in the Cobra’s automatic loss in that game.
On top of that, the ABL will also be serving a fine to the Bangkok Cobras’ Head Coach Joe ‘Jellybean’ Bryant for repeatedly walking onto the court and failing to remain within the team bench area during the game as per the FIBA Rules. Mr. Bryant will also be given a one-game suspension for instigating the forfeit and instructing the Cobras players to leave the court without first providing match officials with a valid reason for the walk out.
The ABL will also be serving a fine to Cobra Jai Reyes for making public prejudicial statements and allegations via his Twitter account regarding the ABL’s game officials from this match-up without prior definite proof.
