The NBA: Team Awards

The individual awards for the regular season only acknowledge one player per award. The NBA started announcing some of the winners (COY, DPOY) this week with the MVP being crowned possibly next week. Here at Hoop Nut, we already announced our picks here and here. As consolation prizes for the non-winners, the NBA announces All-NBA teams to recognize the players who had an excellent season but were not quite as good as the eventual award winners. It's only right that I present you my team selections as well.

 All-NBA 1st Team

G - Chris Paul. He brought the Clippers to the playoffs and made DeAndre Jordan watchable

G - Kobe Bryant. At age 33 and with a wrist injury, he was 2nd in scoring and 4th in minutes played

F - Kevin Durant. Led the league in scoring for the 3rd year in a row and MVP runner-up

F - LeBron James. The MVP, number one player in PER (player efficiency rating) 

C - Andrew Bynum. Played more games than Howard and has a more polished post game

All-NBA 2nd Team

G - Tony Parker. Best player of the best team in the West. He is the leader of the Spurs

G - Dwyane Wade. 2nd best player on the Heat but still a top 5 player in the league

F - Kevin Love. Best rebounding and best shooting forward (along with Dirk)

F - Blake Griffin. Another 20 and 10 season to go along with his multiple highlights

C - Dwight Howard. Still the best center when engaged and not doing soap operas

All-NBA 3rd Team

G - Russell Westbrook. 24 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists for the 2nd best player in OKC

G - Rajon Rondo. Still lacks a jumper but is already the best player in the Celtics

F - Josh Smith. Never an All-Star although very deserving of at least one selection

F - Dirk Nowitzki. He started slow and the Mavericks limped into the playoffs

C - Al Jefferson. Anchored the Jazz into the playoffs with 19 and 10

Tough Omissions: Steve Nash, Derrick Rose, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Rudy Gay, Paul Pierce, Pau Gasol

All-Defensive 1st Team

G - Tony Allen. 

G - Rajon Rondo

F - LeBron James

F - Serge Ibaka 

C - Tyson Chandler

All-Defensive 2nd Team

G - Iman Shumpert

G - Chris Paul

F - Andre Iguodala

F - Shawn Marion

C - Dwight Howard

Tough Omissions: Kevin Garnett, Josh Smith, Luol Deng, Dwyane Wade, Grant Hill, Shane Battier, Joakim Noah

All-Rookie 1st Team

G - Kyrie Irving

All-Rookie 2nd Team
