Game notes:
- The Tropang Texters drained 14 triples in Game 3 to extend their semifinal series with the Mixers and prevent an outright sweep. Ranidel De ocampo, Jayson Castro, Paul harris, Jimmy Alapag, Elmer Espiritu, and KG Cañaleta each drained at least 2 treys for TNT, which is still facing elimination in Game 4.
- Coach Norman Black’s crew also recorded 30 assists to underscore their sublime playmaking. Harris, Castro, and Alapag each had 4 or more assists for TNT.
- SMC import Marqus Blakely surprisingly underplayed here, scoring just 8 points and grabbing 7 rebounds in only 27 minutes of play.

TALK N TEXT over SAN MIG SUPER COFFEE, 112-86
Talk ‘N Text got back into the series in emphatic fashion after destroying defending champion San Mig Coffee, 112-86, to win Game Three of the PLDT Home Telpad Governors’ Cup semifinals on Monday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
After losing the first two games, the Tropang Texters proved they weren’t out of it just yet in a dominating showing to cut the Mixers’ series lead down to 2-1.
Ranidel De Ocampo led Talk ‘N Text with 24 points on a prolific 10-for-13 shooting clip, including 4-for-5 from beyond the three-point arc.
Jayson Castro added 14 points while Danny Seigle added 13 off the bench. Import Paul Harris finished with 12 while Jimmy Alapag and Elmer Espiritu added 11 and 10, respectively.
Only two San Mig Coffee players – Peter June Simon and Joe Devance – scored in double-digits.
“All players I called on responded pretty well. That’s probably the reason for the results,” said Talk ‘N Text coach Norman Black.
“They still have the advantage. Hope we could steal one more game to put pressure on them.”
Talk ‘N Text took control of the game in the second quarter on the strength of their second unit. They opened the period with an 18-9 run and closed it with a 14-5 blast.
The Tropang Texters outscored the Mixers, 32-16, in the pivotal quarter to take a 52-37 lead at the half.
They kept the pressure on in the third period, pushing their lead to as high as 20 points after seven unanswered markers off a Harris jumper, a basket in the paint from Rob Reyes and a three-pointer from Castro that made it 61-41.
A three-point play by Seigle near the three-minute mark made it a 23-point lead, 75-52.
After two free throws from San Mig Coffee’s Ian Sangalang on the other end, Alapag knocked down a three-pointer to give Talk ‘N Text what was its biggest lead at the time of 24, 78-54.
Kelly Williams punctuated his team’s dominant third quarter performance with a nasty followup dunk at the one-minute mark.
They then scored the first seven points of the fourth to make it a whopping 28-point lead, 92-64, the largest margin of the game.
Talk ‘N Text still needs to survive two more elimination games, though, if they want to make it to the finals.
“Right now, I have no idea what I’ll be thinking for Game Four. Just hope we could catch them on an off night,” Black said.
