SAN MIGUEL BEER over GLOBAPORT BATANG PIER, 95-69
The San Miguel Beermen dominated the second quarter as they cruised to a lopsided victory over GlobalPort, 95-69, to climb back into a share of the PBA Philippine Cup lead. San Miguel outscored GlobalPort by 23 points in a furious second period as they opened up a huge lead that they would never relinquish on their way to a league-best 7-1 record, tied with Alaska. Arwind Santos led the way with 19 points, while reigning PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds in another double-double performance. Chris Ross and Ronald Tubid each added 12, while Chris Lutz had 10. It helped that the Beermen were able to put the defensive clamps on GlobalPort’s star trio. No. 1 pick Stanley Pringle scored 11 points on 5-for-17 shooting from the field, while Alex Cabagnot had 10 points on 4-for-17 shooting. Meanwhile, Terrence Romeo, who has averaged 28 points in the past two games, finished with just seven markers. Pringle and Romeo combined to shoot 0-for-10 from three-point range as the Batang Pier fell to 4-5.

Line of the Game: June Mar Fajardo - 17 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 7/10 FGs.

RAIN OR SHINE ELASTO-PAINTERS over NLEX ROAD WARRIORS, 95-93
The Rain or Shine Elasto-Painters blew a 15-point advantage but still came out on top in the end behind some big plays from star guard Paul Lee as they escaped NLEX, 95-93, for a fourth consecutive PBA Philippine Cup victory. The Rain or Shine star finished with a game-high 27 points on 8-for-14 shooting, alongside 8 rebounds. He also went 3-for-7 from three and 8-for-13 from the free throw line. None of them were bigger than his big three-pointer from a few steps behind the line that got them within one point, 93-92, with just 28.3 seconds remaining. He then earned a trip to the line to give his team the lead, 94-93, after an NLEX miss. Lee scored eight points in the last two minutes as Rain or Shine closed the game on an 11-2 run, including the last eight in the game. Gabe Norwood finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Beau Belga added 11 markers for Rain or Shine. Rain or Shine (6-2) picked up the win despite missing regulars Jeff Chan and Jervy Cruz. NLEX, meanwhile, dropped down to 3-5. Villanueva scored 22 points to lead NLEX, while Taulava had a double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds.

Line of the Game: Paul Lee - 27 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 triples, 8/14 FGs.
