The Elasto Painters overcame early fouls on their key frontline players and Daniel Orton’s huge 23-point and 23-rebound performance as Rain or Shine came out to stop another Purefoods romp.

For the record, the E-Painters themselves halted the Hotshots’ four-game streak during the eliminations in the last Philippine Cup, and while Yeng Guiao, then head coach of Red Bull, also stood as the stopper of Purefoods’ franchise best start of seven straight wins in the 2007-08 all-Filipino tourney.

Paul Lee celebrated his 26th birthday with an 18-point performance with Rich Jackson, Jeff Chan, and Beau Belga also churning out double-digit outputs as the E-Painters beat out the Hotshots in a duel of spurts.

Daniel Orton paced Purefoods with 23 points and just as many rebounds. He also blocked 7 shots, while Mark Barroca and Allein Maliksi scored a total of 21 points in support.
