INDONESIA over TIMOR LESTE, 135-21

- The Indons won without a scare against the overmatched and undersized Timorese. Indonesia ruled the boards, 51-18, and forced 36 Timor Leste turnovers, which resulted in 53 points-off-turnovers for the victors. Oki Wira Sanjaya led Indonesia with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists, while Sandy Kurniawan added 19 markers on the strength of 5 triples. Big man Galank Gunawan anchored the interior for the Indons with 15 rebounds and 4 steals. On the other end, Melchior Pereira was the only Timorese in double-digits with 10 points.

THAILAND over CAMBODIA, 78-66
Box scores.
- The Cambodians, bannered by nine foreign-born or foreign-bred players, put up a bit of a fight against the Thais here, but they ultimately fell way short. The game was reasonably close in the first 15 minutes before Thailand turned up the jets and posted a lead of as high as 28 points. As expected, Thailand won the battles of the boards and assists, though it is worth noting that the Cambodian defense forced 25 Thai turnovers by way of 19 steals. Power forward Danai Kongkum led the winners with 20 points and 6 rebounds, while Wattana Suttisin hit three treys on his way to 15 markers. Big men Sukhdave Ghogar and Teerawat Chanthachon combined to haul down 22 boards for the Thais. Cambodia, meanwhile, was paced by 23 points from Sopheen Toun, while Sak Ratana and Mith Pek each scored 13 markers.

SINGAPORE over MYANMAR, 131-33

- Singapore wasted no time in making an impression in its opening game in the SEA Games, blasting the hapless Burmese. The hosts shot 60% from the floor and limited their foes to just 25% shooting. Coach Neo Ben Siang’s wards also grossly outrebounded Myanmar, 55-20, and forced 39 Burmese errors. Only Min Nay Myo scored in double-figures for Myanmar with a dozen points, while seven players broke through the double-digit barrier for Singapore. 6’8 Delvin Goh led the way with 17 points for the home team, while Lim Shengyu recorded a 15-point, 13-rebound double-double. Russel Low also impressed with 17 markers and 8 boards, while Desmond Oh added 16 points on 7/10 FG shooting.
