The San Miguel Beermen put a bookend to the Rain or Shine Elasto-Painters’ season with a series-clinching win in Game 4 of their 2015 PBA Govs’ Cup semis match-up. As a result, the Beermen move on to the Finals, where old foes, the Alaska Aces, are eagerly waiting.

June Mar Fajardo gave ROS a lot of problems in the paint.

SAN MIGUEL BEERMEN over RAIN OR SHINE ELASTO-PAINTERS, 117-110
Box scores.
The San Miguel Beermen needed to hold off a big Rain or Shine comeback but made the big shots it need to survive, 117-110, and book a return trip to the championship round after a Game Four win on Wednesday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Arizona Reid finished with 38 points and 11 rebounds, while June Mar Fajardo added 27 markers in the win, which clinched the best-of-five series, 3-1.

Once again, AZ Reid showed mastery of his former teammates.

The Philippine Cup champions, which will make a 35th appearance in the PBA Finals, set up a rematch with Alaska, which finished runner-up in the season-opening conference.

San Miguel led by 19 points, 93-74, heading into the fourth quarter, but the Elasto Painters mounted a huge comeback behind import Wendell McKines, Gabe Norwood, and Raymond Almazan.

Rain or Shine came to as close as four points, but Reid and Alex Cabagnot made some big shots in the endgame to seal the victory for San Miguel.

Rain or Shine opened the fourth by scoring the first nine points in a 21-7 run to start the quarter. McKines, Norwood and Almazan combined to score all of Rain or Shine’s points in the run as they came back to as close as five points, 100-95, with 6:27 remaining.

Chris Tiu and Chan would later knock down some three-pointers as the Elasto Painters came to within four, 108-104, but Arwind Santos drained a big triple for the Beermen to stem the tide.

Arwind Santos came up huge for SMB.

Chan would score again on a nice reverse layup off a backdoor cut, but it was San Miguel coming up big in the end with Reid and Cabagnot making big shots to hold off Rain or Shine in the end.

The Elasto-Painters drew 25 points from McKines, who also grabbed 17 boards. Jeff Chan recorded one his best games of the season with 21 points on the strength of 5 triples. Paul Lee bled for his 13 points by shooting 4/11 from the floor, while Norwood added 15 markers.

Line of the Game: AZ Reid (SMB) - 38pts, 11rebs, 4asts, 1stl, 2 triples.

Jeff Chan stepped up for ROS, but even his marvelous effort wasn't enough.

Wendell McKines bucked a slow start to lead ROS and put a scare in the Beermen.
