MERALCO BOTLS over PHOENIX FUEL MASTERS, 90-87

The Meralco Bolts continued their surprising start to the tournament as they nipped the Phoenix Fuel Masters, 90-87, for their fourth straight win in the OPPO PBA Commissioner’s Cup Sunday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Import Arinze Onuaku piled up 17 points and 18 boards, while Chris Newsome added 16 markers to help Meralco notch a 4-0 start.
Gary David also contributed 13 points, while Jared Dillinger scored 10, including a crucial triple down the stretch that gave the Bolts the lead for good.
Phoenix (1-1) was led by RR Garcia’s 15 markers, while Kenny Adeleke and Mac Baracael each tallied 13 points.

Import Othyus Jeffers displayed a monstrous performance as the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel barged into the winning column with a 103-92 victory over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the OPPO PBA Commissioner’s Cup Sunday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Jeffers collected 38 points and 20 rebounds, all while playing hurt as he was suffering from back spasms. Greg Slaughter chipped in 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Joe Devance and Japeth Aguilar added 13 and 10, respectively, for the Gin Kings who improved to 1-2.
JR Quiñahan paced ROS with 21 points and 8 rebounds, while new import Antoine Wright added 16 markers and 8 boards.
