#PBA2016 Govs’ Cup Roundup: July 30, 2016

Ginebra fans got what they wanted as the Gin Kings romped past struggling Meraldo in their 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup match held in Lucena City.

The Barangay Gineba San Miguel Kings, thanks to strong showings from import Justin Brownlee and Sol Mercado, picked up a huge victory over the Meralco Bolts, 107-93, in the Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup on Saturday at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena.


Brownlee led all scorers with 26 points while also dishing out a team-high six assists. Mercado scored 19 points on 5-for-6 shooting from the field, 3-for-3 from three-point range and 6-for-7 from the free throw line. He also dished out four assists.

Japeth Aguilar chipped in with 15 markers while Mark Caguioa added 13.

Ginebra improved to 3-1 after notching their second straight win while Meralco dropped to 2-2.

The Bolts were paced by the combined 37 points of Cliff Hodge and Reynel Hugnatan. Allen Durhan had 17 markers and 12 boards in the loss.
