INDONESIA WARRIORS over SAIGON HEAT, 72-68
Despite their hectic travel schedule, the Indonesia Warriors held on to win their second away game in a row, this time against the Saigon Heat.
Jonathan Smith led all-scoring with 28 points, followed by Steve Thomas’s double-double of 16 points and 16 rebounds. Jerick Cañada further contributed 14 points for the Warriors.
Jonathan Jones recorded 22 points for the Heat, followed by Jahmar Thorpe’s double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds. Noy Javier continued his good performance with 15 points in this game.
The Warriors dominated the Heat in the first half. Poor shooting hounded the Heat, who completed just 33% of their field goals and converted only one of their 10 attempted three-pointers in the first half. The Warriors, on the other hand, were making 57% of all their field goal attempts.
The Warriors continued to do well in the second half, as Jon Smith opened the third by scoring 12 points for his team. Things were looking bleak for the Heat until the last minute and a half of the period saw them go on an 8-point run, which included back to back threes from Noy Javier to cut the Warriors’ lead going into the final quarter.
The Heat’s confidence grew going into the final quarter, John Smith converted consecutive three point attempts to cut further into the Warriors’ lead. The home team was determined not to lose another home game and they came as close as 3 points with just 0:33 left. Jonathan Jones, however, was unable to push the game into overtime, missing two last ditch attempts.

AIRASIA PHILIPPINE PATRIOTS over WESTPORTS MALAYSIA DRAGONS, 90-87
Anthony Johnson, Nakiea Miller and Angelus Raymundo combined for 22 points in the final quarter to help the AirAsia Philippine Patriots complete a come from behind win over the Westports Malaysia Dragons.
Anthony Johnson led all scoring with 34 points, Nakiea Miller had a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, and Angelus Raymundo, who hit all of his six shots, added 12 points for the Patriots.
The Dragons’ top rebounder Brian Williams had to sit out this game due to an ankle injury. Although still recovering from his own minor heel injury, the Dragons were able to enlist the help of Donald Little as Williams’ temporary replacement. Little completed his debut with 11 points.
Patrick Cabahug was a big spark for the Dragons in the first quarter. Cabahug came into the game midway in the first quarter to start a 13-1 run. Cabahug scored 9 points in that stretch. At the 02:09 mark in this quarter, though, their leading scorer Tiras Wade had to leave the game because of a hamstring injury.
Even though the Dragons were playing without Wade, they were leading by as many as 16 points when Donald Little made it 65-49 with 5:11 left in the third quarter. Johnson then heated up by scoring 11 points in the last four minutes to help the Patriots cut their deficit to 64-71 going into the fourth quarter.
The Patriots started the final quarter on a 17-3 run. Nakiea Miller made a free throw with 4:28 left to give the Patriots their biggest lead at 81-74. The Dragons, though, were able to answer with three-point shots from John Ng and Patrick Cabahug.
Nic Belasco gave the Dragons some hope after hitting his own three to make it 87-89 with 7 seconds left. The Dragons then fouled Al Vergara, who missed his second free throw, but Dragons were not able to get the rebound as they lost their third straight game.

SAN MIGUEL BEERMEN over BANGKOK COBRAS, 86-78
Leo Avenido performance in this game solidified his bid for Best Local Player in the AirAsia ASEAN Basketball League’s third season. Avenido put in a stellar showing against the Bangkok Cobras, scoring 33 points including 6 three-point shots as the Beermen won over the Bangkok Cobras.
Dalron Johnson finished with 20 points and Jarrid Famous added 12 points to help the Beermen extend their winning streak to five games. The Beermen are still in second position behind the Patriots with a 10-3 record.
Avenido missed his first three shots in the game before heating up and making his next seven shots to help him finish with 19 points in the first half. The most talked about backcourt tandem of Marvin Cruz and Jai Reyes were unable to match Avenido’s output as they only combined for 15 points in the first quarter and the Cobras were down 33-43 at halftime.
The game started going away from the Bangkok Cobras midway through the fourth quarter after the Beermen made a 13-2 run to stretch their lead to 81-62 after Aris Dimaunahan made a shot with 4:46 to go.
Determined to make this game count, the Bangkok’s Kittimon Wanna and Marvin Cruz hit shots from behind the arc to spark a 12-0 run for their team. The Cobras successfully cut their deficit to 74-81 with 2:37 left, but ere unable to get any closer than that for the rest of the game.
George Travis had his best game with the Cobras, finishing with 20 points in this loss. Marvin Cruz and Gentry Lewis added 16 points and 15 points respectively. The Cobras are now 5-7.

JOBSTREET.COM SINGAPORE SLINGERS over CHANG THAILAND SLAMMERS, 77-70
The Jobstreet.com Singapore Slingers have broken their losing streak tonight with a win over the Chang Thailand Slammers. Louis Graham led all scoring with 27 points and 11 rebounds for the Slingers while Kyle Jeffers contributed 14 points. Locals Wong Wei Long and Desmond Oh had a fantastic night for their team. Wong finished with 19 points and Oh contributed 12 to the final score.
Demetrius Proby and Calvin Williams were the top scorers for the Slammers, finishing with 18 points apiece. Williams also recorded a double-double with 16 rebounds. Sopon Pinitpatcharalert put in 11 and Boyet Bautista contributed a further 10 points.
The Slingers started the game hot with a 9-0 run before Boyet Bautista went on to score 8 out of the Slammers’ total of 13 in the quarter. The Slingers held on to close out the quarter with a slim 4-point lead.
It was an exciting second quarter that saw six lead changes. At just two minutes left till the halftime buzzer, the Slammers were still holding on tightly to a slim lead, but Kyle Jeffers put in two free throws and followed that up with a basket to see the teams all tied up at the half.
The Slingers pulled ahead in the third quarter, Jeffers once again opening up the scoring for his team. This period was all about the Slingers as they surged ahead to erect an 11-point lead. Despite repeated attempts by the hosts to close in, the Slingers were able to maintain their lead to end the quarter leading by 6.
It was down to the wire in the final quarter. It even looked like the Slammers would have a shot at pushing the game into overtime after a Calvin Williams dunk put them just one point behind the Slingers with 3:55 left. This, however, sparked a 7-point Slingers run to close out the win.
