B-MEG LLAMADOS over ALASKA ACES, 90-75
Denzel Bowles is getting better. So are the B-Meg Llamados, who seem to be peaking at just the right time.
The 6-foot-10 Lithuanian league veteran finished with 35 points, 18 rebounds and 2 blocks in powering the Llamados to their fifth win in seven games. With Bowles in charge, the rest of the Llamados were doing the things they comfortably do.
Marc Pingris concentrated on defense and rebounding. James Yap, PJ Simon and Josh Urbiztondo provided the scoring sock, but the most important thing for B-Meg’s third straight win was its solid team defense against Alaska.
Adam Parada led the Aces with 24 points, but was outplayed by Bowles in almost all departments. LA Tenorio contributed 18 markers built around four triples, but he was only 1-for-7 from the two-point region and committed 3 turnovers. His 10 points also came in the fourth quarter when the Llamados were already leading by as many as 20.
Cyrus Baguio and BonBon Custodio, two players who have thrived on the Aces’ new free-flowing system, struggled against the Llamados’ defense. Baguio was held down to only 7 points on 3-of-11 shooting while Custodio went 0-for-4 and finished with only 1 point.

RAIN OR SHINE ELASTO-PAINTERS over AIR21 EXPRESS, 113-83
Too late it might be, but Rain or Shine still rediscovered its old form and snapped out of a slump Friday night. The Elasto Painters dominated the Air21 Express with an impeccable game, pulling off a rout to keep their flickering hopes alive for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup playoffs. The Philippine Cup fourth placer who took a tailspin in this import-spiced tourney, improved to 2-5 while stalling Air21 at 3-3.
The Elasto-Painters put their fighting spirit on display as they overwhelmed the Express. Duke Crews scored 20 points to pace the Elasto Painters who also drew double-digit outputs from Ronjay Buenafe, Paul Lee, Jeff Chan and Jervy Cruz.

BARAKO BULL ENERGY over MERALCO BOLTS, 89-82
Rodney White came through with the tournament’s first triple double, Wynne Arboleda sizzled from the three-point area, Danny Seigle turned back the hands of time and Willie Miller showed everyone why he’s a two-time Most Valuable Player as Barako Bull put the pieces together in the second half to beat Meralco in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.
The Energy, who improved to 3-4, were listless in the first half, particularly the second period as they allowed the Bolts to erect a 15-point advantage. After the halftime powwow, however, Barako Bull entered the third quarter with the desired energy as they obliterated the Meralco lead.
Mac Cardona, who was recently named Accel-PBA Player of the Week for averaging 25 points in the last two games won by the Bolts, was held to only 8 points. He made six in the first half and added two when the outcome was already beyond doubt.
White, a replacement for Dermarr Johnson who suffered a groin injury in the Energy’s game against Rain or shine in Dubai, UAE last month, put together 18 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists Miller only had one point in the first half but erupted for 16 points in the second half as he mocked the defense of Ross.

POWERADE TIGERS over AIR21 EXPRESS, 121-92
Powerade left little question to its resolve by drubbing Air21 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Tigers were simply too much for the Express to handle in the second half as the former stoked their drive for a playoffs seat while serving notice they remain a force to be reckoned with. The victory, Powerade's fourth in seven games, is a big one since it moved up into at least a share of third-place going into its last two elimination round assignments.
The Express, beaten to the tune of 113-83 by Rain or Shine just last Friday, were only in the game during the first half before the Tigers really poured on the heat to the tune of six triples spanning the last two quarters for a lead that reached as high as 101-69.
So one-sided did the match become even before then that Perasol found no need to field back the likes of Marcio Lassiter, Sean Anthony, Dwayne Jones and Jayvee Casio in the entire fourth period.
In fact, the crowd spent the last five minutes of the game focusing on the crowd-pleasing antics of Alex Crisano before drawing the loudest cheers when he limped out in the dying seconds after stepping on another player's shoe.
Despite being taken out for good in the last 7:16 of the game Gary David still wound up with a game-high and personal conference-high-tying 32 points, anchored on six of Powerade's 18 three-pointers. Lassiter finished with 22, Anthony 10 and Francis Allera a career-high 10.
Marcus Douthit was on Powerade's crosshairs and it showed. The 6-foot-10 wound up with 18 points, 15 boards and 6 assists but was hardly a factor in the stretches where the Tigers made their runs. Nelbert Omolon added 17 points and Jojo Duncil and Paolo Hubalde 10 each for the Express, who are now faced with must-win situations in their remaining games against Meralco also on Friday and Barangay Ginebra.

BGY. GINEBRA KINGS over TALK N TEXT TROPANG TEXTERS, 94-91 (OT)
Up against the No.1 team in the league and the conference’s defending champion, Barangay Ginebra’s energy was the key to pulling off an upset.
The much-needed energy came from a relatively unlikely source – Rudy Hatfield.
The 34-year-old Hatfield provided the energy and came up with a career game in powering Barangay Ginebra to a hard-earned overtime triumph. Playing in front of a huge crowd of 13,515, Hatfield dished out his best performance ever, taking center stage just when his team needed it most and finishing with a career-high 30 points that came on top of 14 rebounds. The Kings rode on their aging veteran’s broad shoulders and the H-Bomb responded with 13 points in the fourth quarter, including his team’s last five points in regulation.
The loss was only the second in five games for Talk ‘N Text, which dropped to a share of the lead with idle B-Meg with two games to go in the single round-robin eliminations.
The Kings won the game despite having an atrocious shooting from the foul line. They shot 13-of-29 from the free throw area (44.8%), with 12 of the 16 missed free throws coming from import Jackson Vroman, who had a miserable 1-of-12 performance.
