TALK N TEXT TROPANG
TEXTERS over B-MEG LLAMADOS, 104-102
Those free
throw shooting woes almost came back to haunt Talk N Text again.
Almost.
The Tropang
Texters managed to sink the ones that mattered to hold off B-Meg Wednesday and
even up their PBA Commissioner's Cup championship series at one game apiece.
Jayson
Castro accounted for one of the five charities TNT missed inside the last 42
seconds, but he atoned by hitting 6 big points, including the go-ahead
three-pointer at the final 35 seconds mark.
The Llamados
practically self-destructed right there and Ryan Reyes and Jimmy Alapag each
hit a pair of gift shots to ice the game and make up for an 82-88 loss in the
best-of-seven series' opener last Monday.
After
missing 20 free throws and committing as many turnovers in Game 1, TNT made 31
of 43 charity attempts and had 13 less miscues. But it was his B-Meg team's
woeful stretch plays that coach Tim Cone rues the most.
Denzel
Bowles ruined a 33-point, 13-rebound performance by missing some clutch shots, and
he also threw the ball away following a defensive rebound. Ditto for James Yap, who also had a big
miss, hitting just the side of the board in a hurried jumper with his team just
99-100 down.
The war is
far from lost, however.
Donnell
Harvey finished with 29 points and 14 rebounds while Castro added five rebounds
and five assists despite two sore ankles that limited him to just five points
in Game 1. Ryan Reyes and Ali Peek also turned in double figures, with the
former helping put the clamps on PJ Simon.
Yap
rebounded big-time from a nine-point performance just two days ago with 25
points. Josh Urbiztondo added 15 and Simon 10, eight less than in Game 1.

Both teams muffed opportunities down the stretch, but Bowles' intercepted outlet pass that turned into a turnover was the biggest one that did the Llamados in. Game 3 is going to be crazy!
