Championship Poetry

Here are two acrostic poems written by some students from Mr. Joel Falgui's 2E English class in the Ateneo de Manila High School.

Pretty impressive for two things:
1) They're not free-verse poems, but acrostic poems. It takes a certain level of finesse and critical thinking to complete a decent acrostic. (I'm sure you guys will get an idea of what an acrostic is just by reading these two works)
2) Both poems were completed BEFORE Ateneo clinched the 5-peat. Perhaps these guys have pre-cognition abilities? Haha :)

One BIG Fight for poetry!!! :)

Poem #1 by Michael Nieto (sophomore center for the Ateneo Blue Eaglets) and JP Santiago

Called a loser
Heart of a winner
Ateneans
Men-for-Others
Playing for AMDG
Intensity of the game
Options never die
Never-ending hope
Success will follow

Ateneo HS big man Mike Nieto shows off his
lyrical skills in his acrostic poem.

Poem #2 by Patrick Jingco and Pierce Alarcon

Crowd cheering like crazy
Hands all up in the air
Ateneans on their feet
Marching bands doing beats
People praying
Intensity rising
Overtime ongoing
No timeouts left
Swish. Shout. Win.
