RAIN OR SHINE ELASTO-PAINTERS over MERALCO BOLTS, 107-79

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters cruised to a 107-79 victory over the Meralco Bolts, but not before the two sides engaged in a heated, physical battle all throughout their PBA Philippine Cup matchup at the University of Southeastern Philippines gym in Davao City. As Rain or Shine held a commanding 87-56 lead early in the fourth quarter, tempers flared between the two teams when big man Raymond Almazan of the Elasto Painters was pushed down to the floor by John Ferriols of the Bolts during a rebound play. A fight between the two almost ensued before officials and their teammates were able to pacify them. Ferriols got a flagrant foul one, while Almazan was handed a technical foul after the incident. In the third quarter, Gary David suffered a bloodied nose after being fouled in a drive attempt. Teammate Jared Dillinger took the free throws for him as “El Granada” never returned to the game. Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao was also ejected early after being handed with two straight technical fouls at the 10:31 mark of the second period due to complaining. Elasto Painters big man Beau Belga also lost his teeth after a hard hit in the first period. Paul Lee finished with 20 points, 10 assists and three steals to lead Rain or Shine which booked its third straight win for a 5-2 card. The Bolts, meanwhile, fell to 3-3.
