#PBA2015 Govs Cup Roundup: June 24, 2015

The 2015 PBA Govs’ Cup playoff cast was completed after tonight’s pair of scintillating games. Kia survived Meralco’s challenge in the first game, which paved the way for Ginebra’s advancing to the next round after they defeated the Road Warriors in the main event.

KIA CARNIVAL over MERALCO BOLTS, 88-85

The Kia Carnival kept their hopes for a first-ever playoff appearance alive after escaping Meralco with an all-important 88-85 victory on Wednesday at the SMART-araneta Coliseum.

The Carnival made a terrific stand in the fourth quarter, coming back from a six-point deficit before getting some big stops and making some free throws in the endgame for the win.

Import Hamady N’Diaye finished with 24 points, 19 rebounds, and 6 blocks, while point guard LA Revilla added 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists for Kia, which finished the Govenors’ Cup elimination round tied with Meralco and Talk ‘N Text at 5-6.

Talk N Text and NLEX got some much-needed wins to keep their quarterfinal hopes alive in the 2015 PBA Govs’ Cup tonight.

TALK N TEXT TROPANG TEXTERS over KIA CARNIVAL, 94-85

The Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters weathered a furious rally by the Kia Carnival to come away with a 94-85 win and bolster their playoff bid in the PBA Governors’ Cup Friday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Jayson Castro top-scored for Talk ‘N Text with 19 points, and he got ample help from Kelly Williams and Ranidel De Ocampo, who finished with 14 markers apiece for the Tropang Texters, who built a 28-point lead in the second period only to be erased by the Carnival in the third frame.

Rain or Shine clinched a spot in the 2015 PBA Govs’ Cup quarterfinals after beating Kia, while Barako Bull lost its third game in a row after getting blown out by Ginebra.

RAIN OR SHINE ELASTO-PAINTERS over KIA CARNIVAL, 94-90

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters notched their fifth straight win of the tournament after holding off the Kia Carnival, 94-90, in PBA Governors’ Cup action Wednesday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Paul Lee scored 20 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and was a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line as Rain or Shine improved to 6-4 and moved up to a share of the fourth spot as the elimination round enters its homestretch.

The 2015 PBA Govs’ Cup got even more interesting as GlobalPort moved within half a game of third place, while Meralco tied ROS at fifth spot after beating the skidding Ginebra Gin Kings.

GLOBALPORT BATANG PIER over KIA CARNIVAL, 102-94

Jarrid Famous put up some monster numbers for GlobalPort while Terrence Romeo came alive at just the right time, leading the Batang Pier to a 102-94 victory over the Kia Carnival on Sunday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Famous scored 30 points and grabbed 37 big rebounds alongside 3 blocks in a huge effort for the Batang Pier. The GlobalPort import nearly matched the entire Kia team’s rebounding output of 40 all by his lonesome.

#PBA2015 Govs Cup Roundup: June 10, 2015

Things got very interesting tonight in the 2015 PBA Govs’ Cup as Kia caught a big fish tonight by beating erstwhile top team Barako Bull Energy, and Rain or Shine frustrated the NLEX Road Warriors.

KIA CARNIVAL over BARAKO BULL ENERGY, 71-68

The Kia Carnival completed a late rally to escape erstwhile leader Barako Bull Energy, 71-68, in PBA Governors’ Cup action Wednesday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Asian import Jet Chang finished with 15 points and 6 rebounds to pace Kia, which snapped a two-game skid to improve its record to 4-3.

Barako Bull was still up by six, 67-61, with 5:38 left in the game when the Carnival launched a 9-1 run late to grab a 70-68 lead with 1:11 left.

LA Revilla added 10 points for Kia, while import Hamady N’Diaye had 8 points and 14 rebounds.

The Alaska Aces and San Miguel Beermen notched separate wins tonight to remain at the top tier of the team standings in the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup.

ALASKA ACES over KIA CARNIVAL, 101-63

The Alaska Aces continued their strong campaign in the PBA Governors’ Cup as they obliterated expansion team Kia by 38 points, 101-63, on Friday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Vic Manuel led the way with 17 points and 4 rebounds for the Aces, who improved to 5-2, good for a share of second place in the standings. Import Romeo Travis, rookie Chris Banchero and veteran Dondon Hontiveros all scored 14, while JVee Casio added 11.
