MERALCO BOLTS over RAIN OR SHINE ELASTO-PAINTERS, 92-87

The Meralco Bolts, led by import Josh Davis, came back from a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter to as they found a way to remain unbeaten in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup with a 92-87 win over Rain or Shine on Tuesday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Davis scored 15 points in the fourth quarter, one more point than the entire Elasto Painters’ squad, as the Bolts erased a double-digit lead to clinch the victory, their fourth consecutive to open the current conference.
Davis finished with 31 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks, while Mike Cortez had 13 points and had a game-high 8 assists. Sean Anthony finished with just 8 markers – all of them in the fourth.
Gary David and Cliff Hodge also reached double-figures in scoring for the Bolts, scoring 11 and 10 respectively.
ROS led, 73-62, to close the third period, but the Bolts went on a 21-7 run early in the final frame to retake the lead for good. The Painters were paced by Rick Jackson’s 22 points and 18 rebounds, while Paul Lee added a dozen markers, 4 treys, and 10 boards.

GLOBALPORT BATANG PIER over ALASKA ACES, 95-73

The GlobalPort Batang Pier dominated late as they blew out the undermanned Alaska Aces, 95-73, in PBA Commissioner’s Cup action on Tuesday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Import CJ Leslie, whose replacement Calvin Warner is already in town, left quite the impression on his way out, finishing with 30 points, 18 rebounds, and 4 assists in what was expected to be his final game for the Batang Pier.
Terrence Romeo helped GlobalPort put the game away completely in the fourth quarter with an impressive shooting display that saw him go 4-for-4 on three-pointers in a two-minute span. That gave the Batang Pier their largest lead of 27 points, 95-68. He finished with 25 points in the game.
Alaska missed the services of four of their key players. Calvin Abueva was a game-time scratch because of the flu and a swollen knee, while Vic Manuel joined Sonny Thoss and JVee Casio on the injured list after their game against NLEX last Saturday.
Import DJ Covington paced the Aces with 25 points and 14 boards, while Dondon Hontiveros tossed in 11 markers in support.
