RAIN OR SHINE ELASTO-PAINTERS over GLOBALPORT BATANG PIER, 104-98
Box scores.
The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters let a 17-point lead at the end of three quarters slip away in the fourth but made the clutch plays they needed to escape a GlobalPort side led by a red-hot Terrence Romeo, 104-98, on Friday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum
Paul Lee scored 25 points, including five three-pointers and a perfect 10-for-10 clip from the free throw line, while import Rick Jackson finished with 16 points, 18 rebounds, and 6 assists in the victory, the Elasto Painters’ second in three PBA Commissioner’s Cup games so far.
Rain or Shine outscored GlobalPort, 22-6, in the third quarter to take a 75-58 lead but needed to hold off a hard-charging Batang Pier squad that got as close as three points in the final minute before the Elasto Painters clinched the win.
Romeo scored 11 points, including three three-pointers, in the last two minutes of the game but Rain or Shine’s Jonathan Uyloan hit a clutch, off-balanced three-pointer with the shot clock running out late in the game and Lee went hit all six of his free throws in the final minute to ensure the victory.
Romeo and import CJ Leslie each scored 29 to lead GlobalPort (1-2) in the losing effort.
Line of the Game: CJ Leslie (GLO) - 29pts, 17rebs, 3asts, 1stl, 1blk.

PUREFOODS STAR HOTSHOTS over BLACKWATER ELITE, 98-86
Box scores.
The Purefoods Star Hotshots’ super second unit kept most of their starters glued to the bench in the fourth quarter after an impressive rally that helped clinch a 98-86 victory over expansion team Blackwater in PBA Commissioner’s Cup action on Friday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Blackwater hung around for most of the first three quarters but were blown out by Purefoods’ reserves, led by Justin Melton and Allein Maliksi.
Despite the best efforts of Blackwater import Marcus Douthit, who scored 30 points, the Hotshots went on a 23-11 run bridging the third and fourth quarters to take a lead of as high as 17 points, 91-74, in the fourth quarter.
Import Marqus Blakely scored 23 points to lead Purefoods, while Marc Pingris added 14 and Mark Barroca chipped in with 13.
Melton and Maliksi each had 12 and played key roles in the run that sealed the win.
Maliksi scored nine points in the fourth quarter, while Melton made several impact plays, including a big alley-oop jam off a pass from Mark Barroca in transition and a booming three-pointer that snuffed out the Elite’s attempts at a comeback.
Bryan Faundo and Brian Heruela were the only other players who scored in double-figures for Blackwater.
Line of the Game: Marcus Douthit (BLA) - 30pts, 11rebs, 8asts, 2blks, 1stl, 11/20 FGs.
