NBA Playoffs Roundup: April 29, 2015

There were a couple of big games in today’s 2015 NBA Playoffs action, and two Texas teams came out on top. Houston left no doubt as it eliminated Dallas in five games, while San Antonio pulled out a close one at the expense of the LA Clippers.

Houston 103, Dallas 94
Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - James Harden and the Houston Rockets are headed to the second round of the Western Conference playoffs. Harden scored 28 points and came up with a big 3-pointer and steal down the stretch as Houston finished off the Dallas Mavericks in five games with a 103-94 victory. The Rockets advanced past the first round for the first time since 2009 and will play the winner of the ongoing Clippers-Spurs series. Harden received plenty of support from his supporting cast. Dwight Howard totaled 18 points and 19 rebounds, Josh Smith netted 20 points off the bench and Terrence Jones scored 10 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter. Houston moved on despite turning it over 21 times and missing nearly half of their free throws (19-of-36).





San Antonio 111, LA Clippers 107
Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tim Duncan had 21 points with 11 rebounds and the San Antonio Spurs held on for a 111-107 win over the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 5 of the Western Conference quarterfinals. Kawhi Leonard finished with 18 points and nine rebounds -- none bigger than his rip in the closing seconds that secured the win. Manu Ginobili scored 14 points, while Tony Parker and Patty Mills each added 13 points for the Spurs, who lead the series 3-2 and will look to advance in Game 6 on Thursday in San Antonio. Blake Griffin scored 21 of his 30 points in the first half and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead the Clippers. Chris Paul had 19 points and 10 assists and DeAndre Jordan registered 21 points and 14 rebounds.
