BARAKO BULL ENERGY over TALK N TEXT TROPANG TEXTERS, 100-87

The Barako Bull Energy, led by import Liam McMorrow and Dylan Ababou, defeated the Commissioner’s Cup champion Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters, 100-87, to remain undefeated in the current conference Friday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
McMorrow posted 26 points and 28 rebounds in a monster performance, while Ababou added 17 points on an efficient 7-for-10 (70%) clip from the field.
JC Intal added 14 points, RR Garcia chipped in with 13, and Joseph Yeo had 12 to help the Energy’s cause.
With the win, Barako Bull improved to 3-0 and grabbed a share of the lead in the Governors’ Cup standings. They are tied with GlobalPort, which is also unbeaten in three games so far.
Talk ‘N Text dropped to 1-1 to start the new tournament.
Steffphon Pettigrew paced the Texters with 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Jordanian import Sam Daghlas added 10 markers, 11 boards, and 7 assists.

ALASKA ACES over RAIN OR SHINE ELASTO-PAINTERS, 94-93

The undefeated Alaska Aces let a 13-point fourth quarter lead slip away but righted the ship in time to clinch a 94-93 win over Rain or Shine on Friday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Romeo Travis led the Aces with 23 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 assists. RJ Jazul added 14 points, while Vic Manuel chipped in with 13 points.
JVee Casio scored 11, while Dondon Hontiveros added 10.
The Aces improved to 3-0 in the PBA Governors’ Cup while the Elasto Painters dropped to 1-2.
Alaska seemed to be on its way to an easy victory, leading by a comfortable 13 points, 77-64, in the early goings of the fourth quarter.
But the Elasto Painters mounted a furious rally, outscoring the Aces, 23-7, including 15 straight at one point, to take a 87-84 lead.
A three-pointer from Paul Lee pushed Rain or Shine ahead, 91-87, with 3:52 remaining. But Alaska responded with a 7-0 run, four of them on back-to-back baskets from Sonny Thoss – his only two buckets of the game.
Import Wendell McKines led ROS with 24 points and 14 rebounds, while Jericho Cruz stepped up to add 16 markers off the bench.
