MERALCO BOLTS over BLACKWATER ELITE, 87-72

The Meralco Bolts needed to buck a slow start to the game but bounced back in the second half to demolish expansion team Blackwater, 87-72, in a PBA Governors’ Cup clash on Friday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Andre Emmett led the way with 17 points, while Gary David scored 16 points and dished out five assists in the win, which was Meralco’s third in six games. Jared Dillinger and Asian import Seiya Ando each added 12 markers, while Sean Anthony finished with 10.
Meralco trailed by double-figures, 22-12, at the end of the first quarter after a late barrage of threes from the Elite, but the Bolts completely outclassed their opponents in the second half, where they outscored Blackwater, 53-33. Blackwater, which was led by Marcus Douthit’s 15, dropped to 1-5 for the conference.

GLOBALPORT BATANG PIER over TALK N TEXT TROPANG TEXTERS, 123-120

The GlobalPort Batang Pier snapped a two-game losing streak in a high-scoring shootout with Talk ‘N Text, 123-120, on Friday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Import Jarrid Famous posted 27 points, 18 rebounds, and 3 blocks, while No. 1 pick Stanley Pringle scored 21. Terrence Romeo finished with 20 markers. With the win, the Batang Pier improved to 4-2, while the Tropang Texters dropped to 3-2.
After putting up 99 points over the first three periods, GlobalPort opened the fourth on a 9-4 run that gave them a 13-point lead, 108-95, with 9:35 remaining, But Talk ‘N Text, behind Jayson Castro and import Steffphon Pettigrew, managed to come back and reclaim the lead, 114-112, before Keith Jensen struck a huge blow for the Batang Pier with two three-pointers in the span of a minute.
A put-back from Pringle with 2:45 remaining made it 121-116 for GlobalPort. Ranidel De Ocampo scored on a jump hook in the post and Castro added two more in transition as they came back to within one point, 121-120, inside the final minute.
Pringle, however, hit two free throws and Castro could not make a game-trying triple with time expiring.
Pettigrew led the way with 35 points for TNT, while Castro added 34.
