The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters notched their fifth straight win of the tournament after holding off the Kia Carnival, 94-90, in PBA Governors’ Cup action Wednesday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Paul Lee scored 20 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and was a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line as Rain or Shine improved to 6-4 and moved up to a share of the fourth spot as the elimination round enters its homestretch.
Import Wendell McKines 24 points and 20 rebounds for the Elasto Painters, who locked up a spot in the next round.
Kia had its chances in the closing seconds and came close to within two points several times, but Lee kept on sinking his free throws to keep the Carnival at bay.
N’Diaye posted 31 points and 21 rebounds for Kia, which slid to 4-5 for seventh place.

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel pulled away in the fourth quarter to cruise to a 120-98 victory over Barako Bull Energy in PBA Governors’ Cup action Wednesday night at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Import Orlando Johnson erupted for 41 points along with 9 rebounds, while Kim Ji-Wan waxed hot in the fourth quarter by knocking down timely triples to finish the game with 12 points as the Gin Kings snapped a two-game skid and also boosted their chances of advancing to the next round.
They improved to 4-6 for a share of ninth place with Talk ‘N Text, and would need to win their last assignment of the eliminations against NLEX next week as well as hope that teams above them drop games in order to have a shot at a quarterfinal berth.
Kim and Johnson caught fire from downtown, while Ginebra feasted on fastbreaks as they unleashed a 27-6 run to turn an 89-85 lead into a 116-91 cushion in just a span of more than seven minutes.
Sol Mercado added 14 points for Ginebra, while the tiny Eman Monfort provided some energy off the bench and finished with 12 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
Liam McMorrow led the way for Barako Bull with 32 points and 11 rebounds as his Energy dropped their third straight game, and they settled for a 6-4 card and a three-way tie for third place.
