TALK N TEXT TROPANG TEXTERS over KIA CARNIVAL, 94-85
Box scores.
The Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters weathered a furious rally by the Kia Carnival to come away with a 94-85 win and bolster their playoff bid in the PBA Governors’ Cup Friday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Jayson Castro top-scored for Talk ‘N Text with 19 points, and he got ample help from Kelly Williams and Ranidel De Ocampo, who finished with 14 markers apiece for the Tropang Texters, who built a 28-point lead in the second period only to be erased by the Carnival in the third frame.
The victory also improved Talk ‘N Text’s record to 5-6, lifting it up in the team standings from ninth to seventh place.
Fil-Am guard Karl Dehesa scored 19 points to lead the Carnival, while Taiwanese import Jet Chang added 17 markers.
Despite moving into the top eight, Talk ‘N Text’s fate still isn’t determined yet as they could still possibly figure in a tie with Purefoods, Ginebra, or Kia (all with 4-6 cards), and even Meralco (5-4), with the quotient game to be played in that scenario.
Line of the Game: Hamady N’Diaye (KIA) - 9pts, 13rebs, 3blks, 3asts, 4/8 FGs.
