Box scores.
The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters gave San Miguel a dose of its own medicine in Game Two, coming back from 20 points down to win, 113-110, and even up their PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals on Saturday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Import Wendell McKines had a monstrous effort with 53 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 blocks, while Jeff Chan came up big, nailing the go-ahead three-pointer with nine seconds remaining.
Rain or Shine trailed, 76-56, in the third period, but outscored San Miguel by 15 points, 36-21, in the fourth quarter.
It took them until the final minute to finally tie the game, 110-110, on a Gabe Norwood field goal before Chan knocked down the game-winner with seconds remaining.
With the win, Rain or Shine forced a 1-1 deadlock, turning the series into a virtual best-of-three.
They turned the tables on San Miguel, which came back from a 24-point deficit in the series opener last Thursday.
JR Quiñahan and Jireh Ibañes combined to score 21 points to backstop McKines, while the Beermen were paced by AZ Reid’s 33 markers, 11 boards, and 8 dimes. Former Gilas sniper Marcio Lassiter also waxed hot, hitting a career-high 10 triples to finish with 31 points for SMB.
Line of the Game: Wendell McKines (ROS) - 53pts, 17rebs, 5asts, 2stls, 5blks, 16/23 FGs.
