ALASKA ACES over PHOENIX FUEL MASTERS, 105-89

The Alaska Aces overcame a sloppy first half to take down the Phoenix Fuel Masters, 105-89, and notch their third straight win in the OPPO PBA Commissioner’s Cup Friday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Import Shane Edwards came up big with 33 points and 16 boards, while Vic Manuel posted 26 points for Alaska (3-1), which took the solo second place in the team standings.
Alaska, which shackled Phoenix with its relentless pressure defense in the second half, tallied a whopping 17 steals — the most in any game in four years, according to PBA stats chief Fidel Mangonon.
Phoenix import Kevin Pinkney made 24 points and 12 rebounds, while RR Garcia had 15 markers as the Fuel Masters (1-3) lost their third straight game.

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters got back to the winning track and did it in style, walloping the NLEX Road Warriors with a 27-point rout, 121-94, in the OPPO PBA Commissioner’s Cup Friday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Seven players scored in double digits for Rain or Shine (2-3), which snapped a three-game skid.
Import Antoine Wright led the attack with 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists. Jewel Ponferrada added 15 markers, and Raymond Almazan had 14.
Jericho Cruz, Jeff Chan, and JR Quinahan each chipped in 12 markers, while Mav Ahanmisi added 10 points.
Al Thornton finished with 19 points to lead NLEX (2-3) which dropped its second straight game.
