We continue our Asian Basketball Journal this week by congratulating the new ABL champions, the Westports Malaysia Dragons! It’s a well-deserved win for a club that has been with the ABL from its inception. Also, the Goyang Orions are just one win away from the 2016 KBL crown, though they just lost tonight to the Jeonju KCC Egis in Game 5. As for the SBL, quarterfinal action has been heating up, while things continue to simmer in the NBL and LBL! Like in previous posts, I won’t be going into a lot of detail. I’ll use mostly images and then just add captions to each one that will, hopefully, capture the essence of the latest developments in Asian hoops.
We continue our Asian Basketball Journal this week by congratulating the new CBA champions, the Sichuan Blue Whales! It was a golden turnaround for a team that finished at 18th place last season, and it’s a validation of Hamed Haddadi’s status as Asia’s best big man. Also, the 2016 KBL and ABL Finals have kicked off, while the IBF Superleague is down to the final four teams. Meanwhile the windup to the SBL, NBL-Japan, and LBl seasons are moving along as well. Like in previous posts, I won’t be going into a lot of detail. I’ll use mostly images and then just add captions to each one that will, hopefully, capture the essence of the latest developments in Asian hoops.
We continue our Asian Basketball Journal this week with the CBA Finals starting and the KBL concluding the semifinals! Likewise, the IBF Superleague has also started its final four, while the NBL-Japan, SBL, and LBL are entering the deep waters of their elimination rounds. Like in previous posts, I won’t be going into a lot of detail. We continue our Asian Basketball Journal this week as playoff action heats up in a couple of the big leagues. The Liaoning Flying Leopards will face the Sichuan Blue Whales in the 2016 CBA Finals after they booted out the GuangDong Southern Tigers and Xinjiang Flying Tigers respectively. Over in the KBL, the Final Four is down to the Goyang Orions, Anyang KGC, regular season champs Jeonju KCC Egis, and defending overall champions Ulsan Mobis Phoebus. Things are also continuing to get exciting in NBL-Japan, the SBL, the IBF Superleague, and the LBL! Like in previous posts, I won’t be going into a lot of detail. I’ll use mostly images and then just add captions to each one that will, hopefully, capture the essence of the latest developments in Asian hoops.
We continue our Asian Basketball Journal and look at the CBA Playoffs, where Liaoning and Sichuan look headed for a collision course for the title. Over in Korea, the Goyang Orions have just clinched a semifinal berth opposite opposite season champions Jeonju KCC Egis. Other highlights of the past week include Petrochimi of Iran earning a berth in the 2016 FIBA Asia Champions’ Cup after besting Lebanon’s Al Riyadi in the 2016 WABA Club Championships and Al Rayyan capturing the 2016 QBL championship after beating Al Sadd in the second game. Like in previous posts, I won’t be going into a lot of detail. I’ll use mostly images and then just add captions to each one that will, hopefully, capture the essence of the latest developments in Asian hoops.
Doing the Asian Basketball Journal has been a little challenging this year, but it’s not because there hasn’t been much happening. On the contrary, the CBA is entering the semifinals of its annual playoffs, and the KBL just crowned its regular season champion. Things are continuing to heat up in the NBL, SBL, LBL, and IBF Superleague, too, while it’ll be Al Rayyan versus Al Sadd in the championship of the QBL. Like in previous posts, I won’t be going into a lot of detail. I’ll use mostly images and then just add captions to each one that will, hopefully, capture the essence of the latest developments in Asian hoops.
