It was an awesome Sunday of amazing-ness.
Period.
Let’s just go through some of the amazing things that happened:
- Jermaine O’Neal, yes THAT Jermaine O’Neal who was drafted in 1996 and of shaking knees, got up for 5 blocks.
- Kyle Lowry with 7 threes on top of his 9 assists. Now the second-best PG in Texas (next to Tony Parker).
- Jeremy Lin’s nice comeback stat-line that includes a 2:1 assist-to-turnover ratio (still pretty low, but much better than the other day), and FIVE steals.
- Again with this Lin kid. He had 14 assists. Who else had 14 assists? D’Antoni’s ex, Steve Nash. Coincidence? I think not.
- A handful of guys getting FIFTEEN REBOUNDS!!! (Dwight Howard, Shelden Williams, Serge Ibaka, Marcin Gortat, & Kevin Love) Thirteen other guys grabbed between 10-14 rebounds each!
- Oh, but Ersan Ilyasova collared TWENTY EFFIN’ FIVE BOARDS!!! Who the hell does that?! (Dwight did earlier in the season)
- Serge Ibaka blocks E L E V E N shots. Better than Dikembe this kid? Part of his triple-double, too.
- Russell Westbrook scored FORTY!!!
- Kevin Durant scored FIFTY ONE!!!
NOWHERE else in the world is there a basketball league that produces this kind of night.

NYK over DAL, 104-97
Call it a bounce-back Lin. A loss to the lowly Hornets on Friday had temporarily quelled the Linsanity in New York, but the NBA's resident phenom scored 28 points to go with 14 assists, leading the Knicks to a win over the surging Dallas Mavericks. Newly-acquired J.R. Smith added 15 points while Tyson Chandler finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds as the Knicks have now won eight of their last nine.
MIA over ORL, 90-78
LeBron James scored 25 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and dished out 8 assists, as the Heat bested the Magic. Dwyane Wade netted a game-high 27 points and blocked 3 shots while Chris Bosh dropped 8 points and grabbed 9 boards for Miami, which has won a season-high six in a row. Dwight Howard had a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds for Orlando, whose four-game winning streak was halted.
CLE over SAC, 93-92
Kyrie Irving dropped one foul shot through the basket, then two. Nothing unusual there, except, with four tenths of a second to play, the first tied the game and the second won it. Irving scored 23 points in total to lead all Cavaliers and Cleveland knocked off the Kings in dramatic fashion. Cleveland, has now won two of its last three.
DET over BOS, 96-81
Greg Monroe led five Pistons in double figures with 17 points to go with 10 rebounds, leading Detroit past the Celtics for the second time in five days. Rodney Stuckey chipped in 16 points while Tayshaun Prince and Jonas Jerebko each netted 13 for the Pistons, winners of three straight, including a 98-88 win in Boston last Wednesday.
IND over CHA, 108-73
Roy Hibbert had 18 points and 14 rebounds on in the Pacers' shellacking of the Bobcats. Six Pacers reached double digits, led by Hibbert and supplemented by 14 from Danny Granger and David West, 13 from Tyler Hansbrough, 12 from Dahntay Jones and 11 from Darren Collison. Indiana has now won back-to-back games after dropping five in a row.
HOU over UTA, 101-85
Kyle Lowry went 7-for-8 from three-point range and dropped in 32 points as the Rockets pulled away in the second half to down the Jazz. Lowry also dished out 9 assists, while Luis Scola added 26 points and 9 rebounds for the Hoston, which won its 23rd straight game when holding their opponents under 90 points.
MIN over PHI, 92-91
Kevin Love made two free throws with one-tenth of a second remaining in regulation, giving the Timberwolves a 92-91 victory over the 76ers. This is Minnesota's third straight win and Philadelphia's third consecutive loss. Love finished with 20 points to go with 15 rebounds, while Ricky Rubio finished with 22 markers.
Mil over NJN, 92-85
Ersan Ilyasova had career-highs of 29 points and 25 rebounds, leading Milwaukee in snapping a 4-game losing skid. Brandon Jennings chipped in 17 points and Carlos Delfino added 11 for Milwaukee. The Nets did get some consolation as Brook Lopez made his season debut after missing the first 32 games with a broken foot suffered in the preseason. In 22 minutes of action, Lopez scored 9 points and grabbed 2 rebounds.
OKC over DEN 124-118 (OT)
Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook showed why they're considered one of the league's best 1-2 punches, combining for a staggering 91 points against the Nuggets. Durant scored a career-high 51 points on 19-of-28 shooting, including five in the final minute of regulation to send the game to overtime. Westbrook scored 7 of his 40 points after regulation, helping the Thunder win their ninth straight at home. Serge Ibaka posted a triple- double with 14 points, 15 rebounds and 11 blocks.
PHX over LAL, 102-90
Jared Dudley led Phoenix with a season-high 25 points as the Suns salvaged the second game of a home-and-home with the Lakers. Marcin Gortat had a double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds, and Steve Nash added 14 assists for the Suns, who avenged a 111-99 loss on Friday night in Los Angeles. Kobe Bryant paced the Lakers with 32 points, but turned the ball over 10 times as Los Angeles had its three-game winning streak stopped.
