The biggest game on March 5, 2012 (Manila time) was supposed to be the Lakers-Heat match-up, which the Lakers, thankfully, won.
But LA beating Miami took a backseat to two awesome individual performances that left not a few in awe.
The New Jersey Nets’ Deron Williams took off for a career-high FIFTY SEVEN POINTS. That he did it against the Charlotte Bobcats shouldn’t water down the feat whatsoever. It was still awesome.
Consider that it only took Deron 29 field goals to reach that. Consider how he made ALL of his 21 free throws.
Awesome.
All-World PG right there, and the Nets would do well to do everything they can to keep him for the long haul.
But I guess even more impressive, for me at least, was Rajon Rondo’s MONSTER line of 18 points, 17 rebounds and 20 assists. Triple-double MONSTER right there. When was the last time you saw ANYONE have at least 15 of each of those stats?! That’s on a whole new level already!
And Danny Ainge still wants to trade him? Can you spell “ridiculous?” How about this – A I N G E.
Rondo is such an awesome talent with an amazing skill-set. Any team in the league would want him. Boston included. Ainge is just crazy.
Oh, and Jeremy Lin did pretty well against the Cs, too, but nobody’s talking about him right now. D-Will’s 57 and Rondo’s triple-double. Figures.

BOS over NYK, 115-111 (OT)
Rajon Rondo's triple-double of 18 points, 20 assists and 17 rebounds helped send the Celtics to a big overtime win over the Knicks. Paul Pierce finished with a game-high 34 points and made a game-tying three-pointer with five seconds left in regulation in Boston's fourth straight victory. Carmelo Anthony had 25 points and seven rebounds in the setback. New York hasn't won in Boston since 2006.
LAL over MIA, 93-83
Kobe Bryant scored 33 points in leading the Lakers to a over the Heat. Bryant, still donning a protective mask as a result of a hard foul delivered by Dwyane Wade in last Sunday's All-Star game, made 14-of-23 shots. Metta World Peace added 17 points, 7 rebounds and a season-high 4 steals for the Lakers, who have won three straight and eight of 10. The Heat have lost two in a row, marking just the second time this season that they have dropped consecutive games.
NJN over CHA, 104-101
Deron Williams' 57 points marked a career-high, set a Nets single-game record and led New Jersey over the Bobcats. Williams made 16-of-29 shots, went 21-of-21 from the free- throw line and added 7 assists and 6 rebounds for the Nets, who were coming off of Friday's loss at Boston. Kris Humphries chipped in 11 points and 13 rebounds. The Bobcats have dropped five in a row and are an NBA-worst 4-31 on the year.
TOR over GSW, 83-75
DeMar DeRozan scored 25 points, Leandro Barbosa had 18 off the bench and the Raptors snapped a five-game losing streak to the Warriors. Double-doubles for Toronto came from James Johnson (12 points, 12 rebounds) and Amir Johnson (11 & 13), who combined for 25 of their team's 51 boards. The Raptors won for the third time in five games and moved to 1-1 on a four-game homestand. The Warriors fell for the sixth time in nine games and dropped to 2-3 on a six-game road trip.
LAC over HOU, 105-103 (OT)
Chris Paul had 28 points and 10 assists and the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Houston Rockets in overtime to end a close game in which neither team led by more than seven. Paul had three of his 28 points in overtime after holding the ball too long on the last possession of regulation and getting off a shot that came after the buzzer. The Clippers improve to 2-1 on a six-game road trip that continues Monday at Minnesota.
CHI over PHI, 96-91
Derrick Rose had 35 points and 8 assists to help the Bulls beat the 76ers. Carlos Boozer added 13 points while Joakim Noah scored 11 with 18 rebounds for the Bulls, who have won six in a row. They improved to an NBA-best 31-8 on the season. Thaddeus Young had 17 points and 9 rebounds for the 76ers, who have lost seven of their last nine.
PHX over SAC, 96-88
Steve Nash had 19 points and 7 assists and the Phoenix Suns wrapped up a successful home stand with a win over the Sacramento Kings. Marcin Gortat added 14 points and 17 rebounds while Channing Frye also had a double-double, scoring 11 with 10 boards for the Suns, who went 5-1 on their home stand. The Kings shot just 38 percent and fell to 2-9 in their last 11 games.
DEN over SAS, 99-94
Ty Lawson had 22 points, 11 assists and 9 rebounds as the Denver Nuggets held on to beat the San Antonio Spurs. Al Harrington added 16 points and Arron Afflalo finished with 14 for the Nuggets, who earned their third straight win. Tony Parker had 25 points and 7 assists, while Tim Duncan contributed 14 points and 9 rebounds for San Antonio, which lost for the third time in five games. Spurs swingman Manu Ginobili returned from a five-game absence and recorded 8 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds.
