#PBA2015 Philippine Cup Roundup: December 3, 2014

The Meralco Bolts got a big scare in the second half from an upstart Kia squad, while the Tropang Texters outlasted the Hotshots in action from the 2014-2015 PBA Philippine Cup!

Jared Dillinger put up monster numbers in Meralco's triumph over Kia, while Ranidel De Ocampo showed up big time as the Tropang Texters survived the Hotshots in overtime.

MERALCO BOLTS over KIA SORENTO, 99-93
The Meralco Bolts shook off a disastrous third quarter that saw them lose a 21-point lead as they escaped hard-charging expansion team Kia, 99-93, at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum. Meralco held a 60-39 halftime advantage but surrendered the lead in the final minute of the third before scoring the final basket of the period to enter the fourth leading by one, 73-72, as they were outscored by the Sorento, 33-13, in the third quarter. The Bolts were able to lead by as many as nine points in the fourth before coming away with the win, their fifth in ten PBA Philippine Cup games. Jared Dillinger led the way with 25 points on 10-for-15 shooting for Meralco, while Cliff Hodge had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Sean Anthony also chipped in with 14 points, 9 boards, and 5 assists. Reil Cervantes continued to score heavily for Kia, dropping 18 points, while Eliud Poligrates tossed in 11 markers of his own.

TALK N TEXT TROPANG TEXTERS over PUREFOODS STAR HOTSHOTS, 100-96 (OT)
The Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters needed an extra five minutes to do it, but they managed to put away Grand Slam champion Purefoods, 100-96, in a tough, overtime dogfight. De Ocampo scored 18 points, including a clutch step-back jumper inside the final minute of overtime, as he helped Talk ‘N Text improve to a 7-3 mark. The veteran forward hit a jumper with 58 seconds remaining that made it 98-94 for the Tropang Texters. Purefoods’ Joe Devance countered with a basket to bring the Hotshots to within two, 98-96, but they could not score on two attempts in their next offensive possession. De Ocampo secured an important rebound for Talk ‘N Text before Jimmy Alapag sealed the final margin with two free throws. Jay Washington also scored 18, while Ryan Reyes and Jayson Castro added 14 and 13 respectively. Harvey Carey posted 9 points, four of them in overtime, and a team-high 11 rebounds in the win. Marc Pingris had a big game for the Hotshots, scoring 21 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and dishing out 6 assists in the losing effort.
